As an adult, how do YOU interact with the characters?

I still get so excited to see characters (sadly, I'm 28, so I have no excuse for the nuttiness) I yell 'MICKEY!' and run towards them. A photo shoot usually takes place after that. Then I get super excited if I see Donald or someone. Totally makes my trip - and I used to work at Disney as a cast member! Lol. I am SUCH a dork. I'm a little shy around the face characters though. Not quite sure what to say all the time but I love getting pics with Mary Poppins and Belle. But I get too excited about Mickey .... I'll stop there. Lol.

Chip and Dale were totally cute during one breakfast; they had so much fun I guess we got second rounds with them and no one else in the breakfast did! I was joking with them and I would pit Chip against Dale and I was like 'you're my boyfriend now, aren't you? don't tell Dale!' and as cheesy as it was we got some really cute photos. Chip and Dale sat down and 'ate' with us too. Dale tried to steal my eggs. I didn't know chipmunks (are they?) ate eggs, lol.

Oh, and when I start jumping up and down so do they. Especially Tigger. I was so excited when I got to 'Bounce' with Tigger during the Crystal Palace breakfast and later the parade that afternoon. So don't forget to bounce with Tigger!!!

DH and I usually save our character interations for character meals. That way I don't feel like we are stealing a little kids chance. My favorite was at Crystal Palace this past January. DH went to get more food and Tigger came to the tabel and stole his seat and "asked" me to run away with him. TOO CUTE! I have a picture but now here at work so I can't post it.

Our one exception is with Goofy. DH is a HUGE Goofy fan. So whenever we can, DH poses with him even if there is a little bit of a wait.

Okay, when Goofy scared the bejesus out of me at Cape May, I HAD to pose for a pic with him. . .he kept hand jesturing "i am sorry" over and over. . . It was hysterical. . .he kept coming back to our table after that. I really got into the character interaction after breaking the ice with Goofy. . .it was fun. . .

Ah yes...that was funny...there was good character interaction that morning...great start to the day.
I enjoy having my fun with the characters as well...that same morning I had asked Minnie for a kiss, but she insisted I kiss her first. :rotfl:

It depends really on the character for me, sometimes if it’s just a character for me it’s a simple Hi and take a photo and I’m gone. Other times if its one of my favs (like Pooh or one of the Princesses) I'll usually be more excited and have a better interaction. I noticed I usually get the amount of energy and excitement back that I put into meeting the characters. And I try not to ever get self-conscious even if there are tons of kids around; after all I’m there to have fun as well!

It's a great time meeting the characters for all ages. My wife and I love to get the autographs (as you can see by my avatar :lmao: ) We treat them like royalty and it's a lot of fun. I will usually talk to them more than my DW, but she gets last min stage fright ;) .

Well, i just love the characters.... arn't we all kids at heart!! :) I'm not shy around them too much.... i usually try to think of something off the cuff... and i usually going to WDW solo... my last trip, i told Goofy (AK) that he was a handsome fella... and he got all "shucks" on me... he was so funny... and he kept on making kissy noises as i walked off.... it made for some cute pictures.... then at the P&P party, i was again about to take Pirate Goofy and Pirate Donald.... and Goofy stole me from Donald and started dancing with me, then Donalds feelings were hurt.... so i went to Donald and gave him a hug, and said are your gonna let Goofy treat you like that... then Donald turned around and wiggled his tail at Goofy... it was halarious.... and also made for some really cute pics... so to me bottom line it doesnt matter what age you are... if you really like the characters... take the time to visit them.... i can tell you they can really make your day magical!! :)

I always smile and say "Hi Mickey/Goofy/Minnie/etc" and talk to them. They always make me laugh regardless and I always enjoy posing for pictures with them. They are celebrities in my book and I am always excited when I see them again.

This may seem like a silly question, but I'm genuinely curious! Do you walk right up to the character when it's your turn and just pose for a picture? Do you say "Hi, Goofy!" and not much beyond that? How much do you talk to them, what do you say, etc.? I love meeting the characters but I get kind of shy and speechless around them (I think some childish part of me still sees it as meeting a celebrity), so I'm looking for anything that might help me loosen up around them, especially the "face characters." :lovestruc

I love meeting the characters even if I'm not a kid anymore!

On my last trip with my DGF, she really wanted to meet the princesses (first timer), and they were all very sweet and asked questions like "oh is this your prince?"....and then I got to meet Pluto, Donald, and Goofy and mostly I just said "Hi, Goofy! How are you doing?" Or something to that extent.....Donald gave me a huge hug and Pluto licked me. I also got all their autographs and I felt just like a kid again.

It definitely made my day.

Ok ok maybe my life.:goofy: haha

Hoping to return soon and meet as many characters as I can!

I've always been shy around the characters. I think it came from being nearly trampled by a bunch of kids trying to see Mickey when I was a kid. (Back in the days with no lines - and you just would try to get somewhat close).

This past trip though I saw the sign for the Captain Jack meet and greet and dragged by friend with me. I just had to get my picture taken with Jack, even though I don't think I'd had a picture taken with a character since I was about 12. (Especially a face character). Jack was wonderful. We were brought in to see him in a group of about 5 families/parties. My friend and I were the last to meet him. He put both of us at ease immediately. Joking around with us, making fun of my hat, flirting with us. Lots of fun.

After that I was like, heck that was easy. Donald was my next target. I've never got to meet him, and was determined to get my picture with him this trip. When I finally tracked him down at AK, the photographer told me he didn't usually see kids as excited as me!:rotfl2: Donald saw how goofily excited I was and played up to it, kissing my hand and stuff. I think they really take clues from you, and if you play along it's even more fun.

I love the characters! I'm 31 and have no excuse other than when I'm at the world I magically transform into an 8 year old! Last trip I had 22 different character pics. DH even gets into it! I have to say when I met Jack last summer I was a blubbering, slobbering mess! Our friends Mike and Lisa went with us and Mike had this to say about my meeting Jack: "Cost of trip to WDW $4K, cost of P&PP tickets $90, seeing me with Jack, priceless!" We still all laugh about that! :rotfl2:

Wow - I have a hard time remembering that they are actually people and not the real characters! I guess it's just the Disney Magic!!! I am usually just as excited as my DD age 4!

Hi Welsh.
At first, I felt sort of weird having my photo taken with a character... like, um, do adults do this? That lasted about five minutes, however! It's fun, everybody does it, and the photos are great.
I usually talk to the characters as though they're a regular cast member. When I've said things like "Wow, you must be hot in there", and "Have a good day", they always seem so happy and responsive to get a little empathy! They're working hard.
As for "face characters", I have no advice. I've never approached one. I guess I like the big "stuffed animals" the best. :cloud9:
Enjoy your visit to Disney!

I usually don't say much, I figure it must get annoying to sit there all day listening to crazy people go on and on. Haha. I bet it's refreshing for some characters when adults walk up because we have total motor control and we don't like to grab at their costumes.

I've really only done photos with a few characters (aside from when I was little and afraid of them). But Ariel was my favorite last time because she was very engaging toward me. She complimented me and said that we could be related, given that I had a bit redder hair at the time and I always keep it long. C: It made my wait worthwhile even though the rude folks behind me kept sneering about my age and trying to run over my foot with the stroller the entire time. Luckily I had tennis shoes on and braced my foot against the wheel until it was my rightful turn! Jerks....
And Aladdin once told me that he had a thing for curly haired girls. :lovestruc

I think I prefer the face-characters because they can talk.
It's hard to read Winnie the Pooh. LOL.

I have fun interacting with the characters. Some of them will interact more with you than others. Capt. Hook acts like he's going to steal my ring so I play along with him. It really just depends on the character. The ones that can talk are always fun to interact with and you get great pictures with them. Not just the standard poses.

Captain hook got me too, he once tried to take my camera bag!

I always talk to the characters as if they were the real thing. I will say things like I loved your movie.

I am glad to see that I am not the only adult who likes to meet the characters as much as the kids.:)
