I work in a building with a pass key as well as a regular key to get from one side of the building to the other. I have my passkey and regular key on a lanyard with my company ID. But I hate wearing the lanyard around my neck. So I am always putting it down somewhere. Numerous times I'll go to the other side of the building without it, only to have to get someone to open the door for me (they can at least see me through the window).

Today, being the good guy that I am, I was doing some paper shredding (on my side of the building) and noticed the shredder bag was full. Emptied it out, put in a new bag and did my shredding. Then, being the really nice person that I am, I took the full bag out to the dumpster. As I head back to the back door, I realize that I have NO KEY! URGH!

I figure I can go around to the front door and buzz in (there are security cameras so they could see who it is), but the parking gate which separates our lot from the guest parking lot is closed (again for security!). I'm in real trouble now!! So what do I do?!

Well, luckily, my car was unlocked and I had my cell phone in there. So I had to call the office and have them open the gate and let me in the door!

Do I feel like an idiot!

(and how much do you want to bet that I'll forget my key again sometime in the near future!)

At least you didn't throw it in the dumpster.

I'm sorry your day has started out poorly. Blame it on the goblins, since it is Halloween!
