Can anyone help me?
Is it Artist Point or another Wilderness Lodge
Restaurant where you shouldn't ask for condiments?

What exactly goes on there?

We've been to Artist Point a number of times and I don't recall any problems with condiments. It's a nice restaurant with a lot of specialty dishes, but there are also "regular" offerings.

Off-hand, I don't remember if we ever had to ask for condiments, but if you're a paying customer and you want something that's not too much out of the ordinary, I'm sure you'll get it. An egotistical chef might not care, but a good server wants to keep you happy.

We do like Artist Point and expect to dine there again in just over 33 days :D

Hi there,

Just been informed they think it's Whispering Canyon
where all the nonsense happens.

Looking for details.

It is in fact Whispering Canyon. The running joke in the restaurant is when someone at a table asks for ketchup, the waitperson announces to the entire restaurant that this person just asked for ketchup. Then whoever feels like playing in gets up from their table and takes the ketchup from their table over to this person. Sometimes, I've seen that person get 10 bottles of ketchup brought to their table. It's even funnier when the unknowing person is there for the first time and makes an honest request for ketchup!

They usually have horse races every hour or so when all the kids get up and ride a stick pony around the restaurant while everyone at the tables are waving their napkin over their heads. Some waiters will clomp (is that a word?) their tray table on the hardwood floor when they are bringing your food making it sound like a horse trot. Crazy stuff like that goes on while your dining. If you are OK with that sort of stuff while dining, it's a lot of fun. Some people want to be left alone, and I think the wait staff usually know when to back off if they sense that.

Uh-oh... sounds like the makings for a food fight!

What does Artist Point look like, does it resemble Whispering Canyon a lot? Or is it more of a "regular" restaurant, waiters and all?

Artist Point doesn't resemble WCC in anyway. It's a very "laid back" relaxing restaurant with an upscale atmosphere.

As far as being a "regular" restaurant, if you mean "a sit down, don't get picked on, quiet, relaxing" type of place, then yes.

If you mean the food and service "regular" well, it's anything but that. The food is superb and the wait staff is just fabulous. This is our favorite upscale restaurant on property. I recommend it highly for a nice dinner or just a place to "get away from it all", even with the kids it's quite a wonderful experience for dinner! But, I'd highly recommend it for a nice romantic dinner as well:)

Definitely on the opposite end of the spectrum from Whispering Canyon in all aspects;)

I think we'll give both a try this next trip.

Would you do Whispering Canyon for lunch
and Artist's point for dinner?

Can you easily get to MK from WL?

PS
Could you please tell me how you get the countdown?

Whispering Canyon has the Wild West thing going for it. Its open to one side of the lobby - the lobby is huge, or checking in a dinnertime itself might be an adventure. Woody from Toy Story would be right at home. When you get to Artists Point, its very Arts and Crafts/Frank Lloyd Wright. Tucked around the corner with windows facing all those pine trees.

The trip to MK from the WL is easy. From Artist's Point after your meal, exit down the ramp towards the pool...follow the path that goes to the left of the pool and to the left of the geyser. This will bring you to the boat dock with transportation to the MK.

If you'd rather take a bus or monorail, you can go out front to the bus stop and either a) take the bus to the 1st stop (Polynesian) and grab the monorail to MK there, or b) continue on the bus to MK.

The boat usually stops at the FW campgrounds on the way, but it is still a pretty quick ride. We loved the Wilderness Lodge so much it, we made it our home resort for our DVC. Have a great time!

About how long is the boat rise vs the bus
from WL to MK?

Do you mean to MK? If that's what you mean it's about 15 minutes or so by boat. There is no bus that runs from WL to MK (that I know of).

You had mentioned doing WCC for lunch at AP for dinner. That's probably a good idea. AP is only opened for dinner and WCC is a little more low key at lunch, not as crowded as dinner and they have nice offerrings at lunch. But, don't ask for ketchup:p

Some food reviews:
I had a very delicious chicken salad sandwich (on foccia bread, mmmm) for lunch at WCC last month. DD had chicken strips.

AP's salmon is out of this world! Dh had the veal I believe and that was very good as well. We also had the chocolate thingy for dessert, oh yum yum yum. (i believe it was some kind of bread pudding with chocolate!) DD had the white chocolate mickey puzzle with a little paint brush she used to dip in the colored jellies to decorate it with 2 cookies (which kept her busy for over 20 minutes)! After she had her chicken strips of course.

ENJOY!!

psst! Take the boat ride! You'll love it!

mmmmm chocolate.

Maybe we'll just eat dessert
everywhere.

Not a bad idea. ;) If you decide to make the rounds don't skip the lava cake at the Flying Fish!

This just keeps getting better and better!!!!
