We want to check out the Wilderness Lodge, and get a really good steak dinner. How are the steaks at Artist Point, and are children welcome?

Samsma,

I can't tell you anything about the steaks, but I can tell you that children are very wellcome. I ate there in July and loved it!!! Their signature salmon dish is TO DIE FOR!!! I'm going back in March and I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AP is our favorite.Have not had their steak. Usually go for a seafood dish. Some say the beef tenderloin is excellent.Sometimes the only steak they have on the menu is Buffalo .It can be better than beef if not overdone. The menu changes occasionally. Well worth a trip.Save room for the fresh AP berry cobbler for 2.Enjoy.:)
Here is an Oct menu if you don't already have it:

Artist Point is wonderful...have not had the steak though...this is one of out top places to eat at, at WDW...you won't regret it.

By the way, I am sure the steak there is excellent, but I can tell you if you wan't a great steak...go to the flying fish...yes, the flying fish on the Boardwalk.

When this restaurant opened it became one of our favorites. We ate there a few months ago and they have made several changes which did not make it the restaurant we remembered. We were truly disappointed and said we would not return again for sometime. They no longer have the chef they once had and the series of followers have changed the menu. You used to get this wonderful smoked salmon and they have changed the cobbler recipe as well. If you want steak go to Yachts St it is much better and if you want to enjoy WL eat at Whispering Canyon.

Artist Point is wonderful, very kid friendly...although we have never tried the steaks (not beef anyway). We have venison and buffalo, as well as the salmon and many other things. The menu is wonderful, the service is excellent...and they have an excellent wine list...mostly from out west...very good wines.

Go, you won't be disapointed!

Artist Point is very kid friendly and a great restaurant. DH and I got the salmon and still talk about it! Did not try the steak but i would bet it is just as good!

I ate there in October. The food was excellent but they do have a problem with too many children. My guess is since the vacation club is located there now a lot of families eat there. I asked for a table far from children and got it, but by the time I left kids were everywhere. One mother let her baby cry for about 5 minutes before doing anything about it. I was far enough away so it did not bother me.
The buffalo was excellent as was the desert. Will think about going there again because of the potential problem with kids.

Lord forbid ...there are children at WDW. Who would imagine such a horror.

I'm sure that mother made her child cry just to annoy you

sha-lyn: It is not children that bother me as much as the parents that let their out of control kids do anything they wish. When I am paying well over a $100 for a meal with my wife and myself, I expect to be able to eat without screaming kids around me. Just because it is WDW does not give anyone the right to allow their children to go crazy around others at a fine restaurant like Artist Point. Like I said before I beleive the influx of families from DVC has caused the place to be filled with chidren. Olivia's where I am a member and is a DVC resort has the same problem especially in the evening that is why I will only eat breakfast and lunch at Olivia's, nothing can be worse than Olivia's for noise because of the way it is built. Out of contol kids are a problem everywhere these days as some parents just don't know how to parent anymore or just don't have the time or just don't care about others.

Pa@okw95 ... Sorry if I minsunderstood you but, your post certainly read as if the mere presence of children bothered you. In fact the only child you mentioned as "out of control" was a baby who's mother "let" it cry for 5 minutes. There isn't any mention of kids running around unsupervised. In fact you said the problem was too many children. You did not say, too many out of control children.
