DH and I are headed to WL next month, it was a quickly planned trip (we just decided to go on Monday!), and we are still debating on where to eat. I was wondering if anyone has eaten at Artist Pointe and what your opinions are. Is the food good? Is it worth the price? What are the servers like? What is the atmosphere like? Is it romantic? And finally, what is the dress code? I know that most people will say park attire is fine, but is it really? Do the majority of the people where shorts and shirts or khakis? I would feel very out of place wearing shorts and a short sleeved shirt (park clothes) if I were surrounded by dress clothes. Thanks in advance!!

AP is my favorite WDW restaurant.

DH and I ate there during our January 2001 trip and it was fabulous. Great atmosphere and the food was really good. The berry cobbler was to die for.

We did dress up a little which for us at WDW meant nice jeans (it was January and a little chilly) and a nice polo type shirt for DH and a lightweight sweater for me. If it was hot I would have gone for khaki shorts instead. We didn't want to get too dressed up on our vacation. Most others seemed to be out of park attire but it was also later in the evening and was mostly adult only parties rather than families.

I would love to go back but our next trip will be with our DS and I just don't feel right about taking him there just yet.

My husband and I ate at AP last year. It was great, though my steak was overcooked - still good, just medium well instead of medium rare. They offered me a new one, which I declined, so they brought us a cobbler on the house instead - it was wonderful. We would definitely go back.

We also changed first, but still nothing fancy. I don't think you would be out of place in a nicer shorts outfit. Really, except for V&A, there were shorts everywhere.

Don't worry!! You won't be surrounded by folks in coats and ties and dresses at AP. You'll find a true mix of dress at this restaurant--and we always go in nice shorts and Disney T's. Never felt uncomfortable, never out of place.
AS for the restaurant itself--a nice spot w/ good food and service.

We will be going on our Nov trip!!! We' re so excited since we added another night. Dh and I will go to AP while DS (5yo) goes to the Cub's Den. He did really well at Simba's las year. I think I wil order the trio. Hs anyone had it?? I am always too full for desert, so I'm taking it back to my room!!!!

AP sounds such a wonderful restaurant but I just can't get over the fact that they serve rabbit!!!!!!

Had the rabbit sausage - tasted like any good sausage and definitely didn't hop.

I had a regretably bad experience there.

First, the server. She wouldn't shut up and wouldn't leave us alone. Not just hovering service, but she literally stood there chatting about everything from the weather to her car, to her relatives.

Next, my meal. I ordered filet, cooked MR. It came out burned. Even looking at it I could tell it was well done to the max. It was shriveled and burnt. The person who served us set it down and left. My drink needed to be refilled, and the steak had to go back. I told DH to go ahead and start without me. Of course when we needed her, the chatterbox was nowhere to be found.

Finally she showed up. (The restaurant was very slow at the time). I sent the steak back, and reiterated MR. In fact I requested it RARE the second time through.

It came out Medium Well.

I just choked my way through it, eating only the very middle. When she came back again I again told her it was unacceptable, but that I didn't want to wait any long erfor anotherone to get screwed up.

We were offered nothing. I figured they'd at least offer desert on the house. Nope.

We paid our check and left in disgust.

The tip showed our displeasure.

Now I'm not one to blame the server forn the kitchens mess-up. But the food was done wrong, you could see that from the OUTSIDE. The server was terrible, wouldn't leave us alone when we wanted to ahve a quiet conversation with each other, and was no where to be found when we needed her.

Had I been in her shoes where the kitchen messed up the same meal twice, I would have involved the manager. This didn't happen.

I hope my experience was unusual, but it would take more than an offer to get me back.

It definitely fell into our five worst WDW dining experiences.

Artist Point is definately worth it. The food is wonderful, the severs are excellent. Great atmosphere.

Hubby and I have worn everything from shorts/t shirts to sundress/khakis with polo shirt. Park attire is welcome. You will see some people dressed nicer, but remember...this is a favorite among locals as well....and they don't have to pack dressier clothes..lol.

Park attire is perfect and don't worry about what everyone else is wearing...just enjoy your meal!

I had a wonderful meal and a great server. The style is Craftsman and its beautiful. Here is the review of my meal:

I highly recommend the sea scallop appetizer, the mixed grill of wild game and the chocolate bread pudding. I'm one of the few that don't like the cobbler since its really not a cobbler. Its shortbread-type cake with berries baked in it and put on top of it.

Ducklite: I'm really sorry you had such a poor experience. I would have immediatly demanded to see the manager after the second steak (I have to eat my meat moving) and made it clear that I was not paying for it. I usually get a good response when I point out what is wrong to someone in charge and let them know they need to make me happy.

We have eaten at AP once (in Feb.), and for now, it stands as my favorite on property eatery. We dressed up for dinner (valentines day), but there were plenty of folks in park attire. And yes, it can be pricey, but imho it is worth it.

Definitely OUR FAVORITE restaurant at WDW!! We love this place, service has always been more than excellent and the food just delicious. The salmon is fantastic. I believe dh had steak last time and it was cooked PERFECT, cut like butter!!

As a matter a fact our first visit was a fluke, we started at Narcoossee's for seafood and they changed the menu (the day before) and didn't have any seafood at all! We were so disappointed, spoke to the manager. He actually sent us to AP for the salmon and get this, comped our entire dinner!! (just because we didn't like the menu, that's Disney for ya!)

We've gone for a romantic dinner and we've taken dd when she was only 3. This restaurant is appropriate for either. DD spent 20 minutes playing with her dessert (a white choc. puzzle with little jellies to paint it with) which was nice because we had a nice relaxing dessert (not to mention yummy, chocolate bread pudding which i was a little apprehensive about ordering-it was so good and that coming from a true chocoholic!)

The nice thing is that it can be a nice romantic atmosphere or a family atmosphere. Funny enough, the night we took dd, there were 2 other parties of 2 (dad and daughter) and both dads were eating alone while their dd's slept in the chair next to the table. The servers pushed 2 chairs together and gave the girls' a pillow and blanket!! So, their dad's were able to sit and relax after a long park day and have dinner!

My first post on these forums and it's a complaint, great :)

We ate at Artist's Point last September, and I was disappointed. You can add me to the "overcooked steak" crowd. I ordered medium rare and when it came, it was medium-well to well-done. That's always my acid test for any new restaurant and if they fail it, I usually just write them off, no second chances. I didn't think the other food was good enough to forgive the mis-steak this time either.

Not only that but our server was over-chatty also (not the same lady as above, this was a middle-aged guy).

Our favourite restaurant on-property is the California Grill. Great place that's never put a foot wrong when we've been there.

Wulfy--When we ate there it was September 1 of last year. Wonder if they were having a problem in the kitchen? It still doesn't excuse the very poor service. We had a "kitchen problem" at Fulton's, the server IMMEDIATELY got the manager who comped DH's meal and offered us both desserts on the house (we declined as we were full). They couldn't do enough to make it right. Because it was handled appropriately I'll go back without hesitation.
