Thanks to the 7-for-4 deal, DH and I will be staying at WL for our trip in April. I have only been in this resort once shortly after it opened, and we are very excited to be staying here.:thumbsup2

I was wondering what everyone thought of Artist Point. I checked out their menu and it looked great, but I am sure some DISers have their own opinions. Photos would be great too!

(Sidenote: I apologize if this is posted elsewhere, but the search function won't work on my home or work computer.

Thanks! :goodvibes

We ate there for the first time on Thanksgiving and had a great experience. The food was very good—three of had filet and the other had salmon—although they weren't serving their full menu for the holiday dinner. The service also was very good. We chose to sit outside even though it was getting a little cool, but they did have heaters so it was toasty. Even so, the maitre d' came by to check on us and offered to bring blankets for our legs. The kids took him up on the offer and within a couple of minutes they had a nice, fluffy blanket to keep them warm under the table. I don't think I've ever experienced that at a restaurant anywhere before.

All in all, the food was among the best we've had at a WDW restaurant (I think we still like Jiko better) and the service was excellent. We'll definitely be back some day to try out the full menu.

Disclaimer -- I haven't been there since 2004.

We really enjoyed our grown-ups night out at Artist Point and I thought the meal was wonderful. We enjoyed the Pacific Northwest theme of the menu. Coupled with the fact that the furnishings are our favorite (like all of the WL), it was a wonderful dinner out.

I would highly recommend it -- it's been one of my favorite WDW restaurants so far, but we just haven't made it back there.

me either!! But I did enjoy my meal a lot.......my friends and I went one night in Nov/Dec, and they sorta forgot about us when we checked in.....they were semi-busy, so I didn't think anything of a 20 min wait, and since I was a restaurant hostess, I hated when people went to check "how much longer" so I wouldn't let my friends say or do anything......but it became 45 min, then an hour, and then I let them say something.......they DID forget about us! But I mean, the manager was mortified, and we got a free app from it! The rest of the meal was amazing, and I sent my parents back the next year.....my dad sprung for the $65 full meal, and he was VEEERRYYYY impressed........

We went there last year, with our daughters, and we all loved it.

I had the filet which was the best I've had at WDW, DH had the buffalo which he thought was great. Girls both really enjoyed their food especially desert! The service was fantastic, as was the atmosphere.

We liked it so much we're going on Christmas Day! :woohoo:

We ate there for the first time in Oct. and loved it! It is now our favorite restaurant. I had the filet and it was the best I've had on property. It's now at the top of our list for our next trip.

A first-rate restaurant. We just returned from my third visit on Sunday. A couple of the new additions were outstanding: a parsnip and quince soup, worthy competition with the portabello mushroom soup; and an osso buco made with buffalo and scalloped potatoes instead of pork and carrots. Our server was a delight: enthusiastic and knowledgeable about wine.

Did somebody say WINE?!?!?:yay:

Thanks guys! Your reviews were a huge help! I think DH and I will go there our first night for a low key evening! After reading the cake thread, I think I may surprise DH with a cake that night too! :)

I know we're in the minority here, but we were very disappointed when we ate at Artist Point in early November. The food was fine, but our server was awful. We waited forever for our appetizers, then again for our entrees, and then he disappeared for a very long time (long enough that both the wine glasses and water glasses were completely empty for a while). When he finally showed up again and we ordered dessert and tea/coffee, we waited at least 20 minutes for the tea & coffee to arrive, and then longer for the shared dessert. The restaurant was nearly empty, so it's not like he was busy with other tables.

It was a birthday meal (which was noted on the reservation and mentioned by the server when we sat down), so that made it even more disappointing, because I really wanted to give the birthday girl a wonderful evening. As I said, the food was fine. Actually, if we hadn't been so aggravated by the service, we probably would have better memories of the actual meal. But by the end of the evening, we were wishing we'd gone somewhere (anywhere) else. And given the extraordinary service that we'd had earlier in the week at Jiko (without mentioning the birthday), there was absolutely no comparison. We plan to skip Artist Point next time, but Jiko is now on our list of "must do's."

Did somebody say WINE?!?!?:yay:

Yep! Definitely included wine as one of the likes. AP offers wine pairings with each course. The wines are all from the pacific northwest and we've really enjoyed them.

Check out the link in my sig for our cheap wine list - you'll find several of them that are there as a direct result of having tried them at AP.

I've been to AP many times (most recently in late Oct 2008) and think it is a wonderful restaurant. Food is great, service has always been pretty good and the wine list is very nice. My only caution is that the buffalo steak has been one of the signature dishes of the restaurant for years, but when I was there most recently, I was told that had been removed from the menu. That was disappointing (although the meal I then had was still quite good).

Another one here that LOVED it! DH and I were just there last Saturday we split the Crisp Venison Spring Rolls appetizer.....Loved it! You do only get two, so we should have each ordered our own apps...oh well, left more room for the entree. DH ordered the Roasted Chicken Breast and I ordered the Cedar Plank Roasted Pacific King Salmon. DH really enjoyed his meal, he loved the cannellini bean ragout with the chicken. I loved the salmon, I was a little worried about the brussels sprouts it is served with.....but OMG you have never tasted a brussel sprout like this! We will be sure to go back next time we are in the world.

If I had to say one bad thing...I was a bit dissappointed with the dessert selections...nothing seemed to jump out at me, so we passed and just had some coffee after our meal.

Oh.....the Washinton Apple Martini....SOOOOOOO GOOOOD!

I'll agree with this. We really miss the "Coffee two ways" dessert.

We've eaten at Artist Point twice and really enjoyed each meal. You can read my recent review (which includes plenty of pics!) at the following link:

By the way, I do agree with the previous posters about the dessert selection. Nothing really jumped out at me either, but the fig clafoutis I did try was pretty good.

Thanks for the photo! Looks like a great meal! I can't wait!

We really had a great dinner at AP. The mushroom soup and the buffalo steak were sooooo delicious! It is a lovely atmosphere and the service was great. I wanted to go back in Jan, but we decided to give Jiko a try instead of AP. But, we will return one day!

I have dined here several times...I would take a look at the Menu's up on Deb W.'s site before making a final decision. I used to love it, but they have taken all my favorite items off the menu, save one, and it's hard to justify that total expense for some pricey venison spring rolls. I love the decor of the restaurant, especially the lighting and the windows, however I feel (this is just one guests opinion) that the tables could use some tablecloths. Excellent wine list, and I think that the food is well prepared, but I think that I'll be skipping it this next time, because honestly none of the menu items interest me. 'Cept the spring rolls. ;) I thought that the California Grill was a much better choice - a much more varied menu and an excellent view to boot. Course, AP is much easier to get into than CG.

We're finally about to try it based on reccomendations we've read here over the years. We like CG and Jiko so much that we haven't ventured to AP, but we're doing a trip in January with family members who aren't going into the parks so we had to find resort restaurants for dinners.

Is our 3 year old going to be dreadfully out of place? (We take him to CG and Jiko... but sometimes we take turns taking him away from the table to explore so he doesn't get too bored during 2 hour meals.) Is there anything near the restaurant we could take him on a quick walk to if he gets fidgety?

It's been a while since my teenagers were 3, but I remember taking them for the first time when they were five. We just made sure we got reservations for opening time. The kids were fine. At that point, they were pretty used to eating in restaurants and not being loud. They had an interactive dessert for the kids at that time. It was white chocolate that they painted and ate. They really enjoyed the food and even as teens, mention that dessert from time to time. The restaurant is just off the lobby, so there is plenty of room to take him for a walk and kill time if he gets fidgety.
