I just made my ADR this morning for Christmas dinner at Artist Point. We have the earliest seating possible at 4pm. The CM told me that window seating can be requested at the podium when we arrive. I guess I'm not sure why I would want window seating! I have never been to the WL before so can someone tell me if I WANT to request window seating? What will we see? If I DO want to request it - any tips? Thanks so much for your help!

If it matters to you, all you have to do is request. If it is available, they'll give you a window table or tell you how long of a wait there is.

But we never request a window seat there as from most tables you can see the view anyway since the windows are huge....floor to soaring ceiling. There is one area close to the entrance that we prefer not to sit in if the restaurant isn't full. The view of the whole restaurant is not the same from that area.

The window seat views are very nice! We had a great one on our visit 2 weeks ago. But, like the above poster said, unless you are way in the back, you will have the view to the outside.

having never been in artist point, what's "the view?" (guessing MK? can you see the fireworks from AP?)

No--fireworks can't be seen from AP. Nor the MK.
I'll rely on the AP regulars to let you know what CAN be seen because, even tho we've been to AP several times, I'm not really sure!!

Nope, not MK - I believe its a view of the courtyard at WL, with maybe a view of Bay Lake... It's a beautiful restaurant!

When we went we were close to the window , but its a pretty big window so you can see outside from anywhere. Though we went at night so we had a nice view of a thunderstorm lol. The food is very good.

Off topic- Their is a hidden mickey on the painting.

I love AP; wifey and I had window seat on our last trip three weeks ago. Most of the tables in the restaurant are fine, though as noted, the further back you sit the less you can see outside. Such a fact doesn't detract from AP's appeal at all IMO. As for the window seat, we were seated on the right hand side of the restaurant with a view of the waterfall that gurgles outside of and behind the main lobby. We could also see a bit of the pool and lake. There are so many trees at WL, that one's view of the lake is limited nearly regardless of where you sit or stand unless you are at the water's edge.

Further, there is a small balcony that goes around the outside of AP, and the wife and I were able to go outside and watch the geyser blow (it "erupts" on the hour until 10 p.m.) with our French press coffee we had with dessert. If the place is crowded, I wouldn't recommend doing this as it will slow down the availability of your table to diners after you. However, on this night, there were 11 open tables at 8 p.m. that I could count, and our server only had three tables. She encouraged us to go watch the geyser. It was a superb moment as the meal was delicious (as usual) and the service superior (as usual).

There is a hidden Mickey on a painting in there, plus, if you ask at the concierge desk in the main lobby, they'll give you an entire list of hints about where to find HMs in and around WL. Hope you enjoy AP! :thumbsup2
