Hi

Have been reading lots and lots of reviews in prep for my ADRs in 59 days! :surfweb:

Would love to hear from anyone who has eaten at both of these restaurants, if you had to choose one which would you choose?

We (Me DH DD10) are using the :cool1:(free) Regular Dining Plan for the first time for our trip this October.

Staying at POFQ, have been to Orlando a couple of times and this time we are aiming for a more relaxing trip. More time exploring resorts and less commando time in parks!

We will be there for 18 nights and want to use our table credits for some 2TS meals, then pay OOP for the nights we have no credits!

Our other choices are

HDDR for my 40th :scared1:
California Grill for my DD 11th, sushi, fireworks and a fab cake, yes OOP for these too!
Narcoossee's...went there in 2008 for my DH 40th and it was magical :cloud9:
The Yachtsman...i like me some steak, yummy!

WWYD

Thanks :flower3:

It's been a hugely long time since I've been to Artist Point, but we enjoyed our meal there a lot. I did not like Brown Derby, despite its signature status. I just wasn't that impressed by the food. I thought AP was a much nicer setting and thought the food was excellent and creative.

I have been to both a few times. I think that AP is in a different league than HBD. I really don't even think of HBD as a true Signature restaurant. Many may consider Narcoossee's and AP the weakest of the signatures, but generally they really aren't even considering HBD in the contest. Even though it is considered one of the weaker signatures, personally, I love AP!

I think the food is better at HBD.

I do think Narcoosees, AP and Yachtsman are the weakest of the signatures and I do include HBD in the group.

We pay OOP so I think the Swan/Dolphin restaurants top Disney's signatures.

HBD and AP tie for me. I can't say one is better than the other.

They were both good but not great. There were high points to my meals and not so great ones at each place.

For me, I would go with HBD next time simply because I ate at AP most recently.

Been awhile since I've been to either, but I sort of "soured" on HBD once Fantasmic opened.
Once a nice quiet spot, it's now rushed and noisy with many families just marking time until Fantasmic.
So I guess I'd pick Artist Point...

I would go with AP hands down, but I have a soft spot for AP, and strongly dislike HBD. I know a lot of people consider AP one of the weaker signatures, but there's just something about it that I really love. Actually on my last trip, my meal at AP was much better than my meal at Citricos, although I concede that it was a rare occurrence.

I think the food at HBD is much better. It's also easier to get to if you'll already be in Hollywood Studios. However, if you're intentionally looking to go outside the parks, AP does have a nicer atmosphere, and the WL is a nice place to visit, look around the lobby, etc.

I would also recommend Flying Fish as another alternative. Again, a little off the beaten path at the Boarkwalk, but to us it's the second best Sig behind Cali Grill.

I'm really surprised one didn't stand out more than another!

I have read all the menus and find them all apealling.
And thanks to psac, I have another one to consider! :rotfl:

I guess I'm just going to wait until I plan my park days and see where I am and where I have space in the "timetable" of relaxing(!)

Thanks again DISers. Your input is very much appreciated :flower3:

I much prefer AP to HBD for dinner. I think the environment is quite a bit more relaxing, and I thoroughly enjoy many of their wines from the Pacific Northwest. On the other hand, I am always up for splitting a Cobb Salad and slice of grapefruit cake for lunch at HBD.

Also, if you go to AP, get the adult Mac and Cheese as a side. One of the best things we've ever eaten in WDW, period. Everything else was underwhelming, but the M&C was incredible. Also, my wife loved the apple cobbler, but that's not my thing.

As of today, I'd go with HBD. ;) We really like AP, but it's been several years since we've eaten there. We've eaten at HBD & other signatures more recently, & we thought HBD was the best of the bunch. I know we're in the minority, but our HBD meal absolutely blew our Flying Fish meal the next night away. Those were easier to compare, because they were b2b. With all restaurants, I think it's the night you're there & what you order. I wouldn't hesitate to go to either AP or HBD though.
