We will be staying at WL for 2 nights during President's Week. We have eaten dinner twice at Whispering Canyon (one time great, one time bad!) and would like to try something different. Is anyone willing to share their experience at Artist Point? DH and I will have our 2 teenage sons with us. Thanks!

I was at the WL from 12/08 - 12/11. I have stayed there 3 times before and have also eaten at Whispering Canyon and Roaring Fork. This trip we picked Artist Point for our "nice" meal of the trip (we ended up with a couple of other "nice" meals but that is another story). Eberyone agreed it was the best meal of the trip. I have never been that impressed by the decore in the restaurant but I had not been inside it after dark. It seemed much more atmospheric and nice. The service was really good though not excellent. Everyone was freindly and helpful.
We triend the veinson spring rolls and they were great. Could have eaten much more but knew there was much more to come. We split two salads between the four of us. The Fisee salad and the Living Lettuces. Both were very good but the Living Lettuuces won as favorite. Two in our party ordered the buffalo steak ( I was leary of it as I had tasted a buffalo burger once and found it a bit odd). We all loved the buffalo steak. Brother ordered the chicken breast and really liked it. I had the hatfield porkchop and it was great. The mac and cheese was definately not a kids kind of flavor. I really liked it.
For dessert we had everything except the pear tore and it was all very good with my brothe proclaiming the Coffee Two Ways to be awesome and Dad sat quietly eating his cobbler (which means it was excellent as well).

My DW and I really enjoy AP. I love the cedar plank salmon and DW loves the Hatfield pork chop. The food is wonderful; the service is normally good. The servers are usually attentive without intruding. Sometimes it can get a little busy which will slow the service somewhat. I appreciate that AP understands the need to allow the individual to enjoy and finish their appetizer, let it settle before bringing the entree to the table.

Just a warning: we've always found 1 berry cobbler to be enough for both of us, especially after a normal AP meal. I've never been able to finish a whole one on my own.

Yes, definitely split dessert!

I've found the 4 course prix fixe meal is a good deal. The portobello soup is outstanding, and I usually don't like creamy soups! I love the buffalo sirloin and the cedar plank salmon. Also Coffee Two Ways is even better than the cobbler (if you like coffee and chocolate, yummy!).

I love Artist Point!

DH and I had a great meal at AP in August. I loved the portobello soup and the salmon DH had almost literally melted in my mouth. I also enjoyed the sweet potato gratin that came with my buffalo sirloin. DH enjoyed his berry cobbler, but I was too stuffed to have dessert. It's a great place to eat.

I love Artist Point! Here is my review from our November trip:

Dinner at Artist Point was terrific. This has always been one of my favorite restaurants, and this meal continued the tradition. We have always had great service here, and this evening’s waiter (Carlos) did not disappoint. We had a nice table for two at the window that was a bit apart from the main dining area, which made for a quieter atmosphere.

I started with the smoky Portobello soup, which was not as smoky as I remembered from lat year, but still had a great garnish of seared ****akes and crispy croutons. DH started with the duck confit with frisee-anjou pear salad, apple cider vinaigrette, and duck proscuitto. I asked hmi to comment on it as I did not try it, and he said that although it was not the best duck confit he ever had, he did enjoy it, and it had crispy skin and was very flavorful.

For entrees, I had the cedar plank roasted king salmon with wild mushroom bread salad and béarnaise sauce. The salmon was perfectly cooked medium-medium rare the way I requested it, and was very fresh. It was, however, too big! (this is becoming a theme in my report, isn’t it?) Carlos said the portion was 6 ounces, but it was definitely more like 8. There was no way I could eat all that fish. What I did eat was very good though!

DH had his favorite, the hatfield pork chop on tilamook cheddar mac and cheese with maytag crust. The pork was cooked medium as requested, very moist and pink. DH had no problem finshing his meal! We shared a bottle of the Domaine Drouhin pinot noir with our meal. Yum!

For dessert we each had a double espresso and shared the coffee two ways (mochaccino bread pudding and vailla latte crème brulee). The brad pudding was too rich for our stuffed tummies, but we enjoyed the crème brulee very much.

I second all of the other fabulous reviews. I'm currently :rotfl2: at the filter edit of the mushrooms.

The wine pairing is also nice.

Thanks for your responses. I went ahead and made an ADR for our last night. Sounds like a nice way to end the trip!

Artist Point is wonderful! You won't be disappointed! The Smokey Portabello Mushroom soup is a MUST (even if you aren't a big mushroom person...it really is outstanding!) and the berry cobbler is delish! We did the price fix menu and it was a good deal in my opinion. I love the filet and my dh had the buffalo.

enjoy!
