This was my birthday dinner and we made it an event. We all dressed up (the boys even wore dress shirts and Mickey ties).

Our ADR for for 6:30pm, so we had drinks in the lounge before hand. Fortunately there were non-alcoholic, frozen drinks on the lounge menu for the boys.
After drinks we checked in at Artist Point. It was still about 20 minutes before our scheduled time but it was no problem, they were able to get us seated right away. Our server took our dinner drinks order and brought some lovely bread while we looked at the menus. The only debates were over appetizers.

Dustin had the Crispy Venison Spring rolls. They were surprisingly good. I say surprising because I don’t normally care for venison (at least the wild shot venison we have in Maine). Dustin shared the one bite each but made pretty short work of these himself.

Carl had the Duck Confit. He likes duck quite well and enjoyed this (except the weird green stuff). I didn’t try it as I don’t like duck. Darla said the duck was very tasty.

Darla had the Smokey Portobello Mushroom soup. She liked it, but said it was “earthier” than she expected. The rest of us tried it and were less than dazzled…but we aren’t mushroomy people. The only real complaint is that it isn’t very pretty to look at.

I ordered the Artisan Cheeses, just to try something different. They were interesting, but I probably wouldn’t do it again. And if we hadn’t been using the dining plan I definitely would have skipped them.

Entrees were pretty simple.
Darla had the Cedar Planked Salmon and thought it was wonderful. Carl and I each tried and bite and it had really nice flavor. I have never had anything cedar planked before and was surprised that it actually contributed to the flavor.

Carl, Dustin and I all had Buffalo, done medium. It was the absolute best thing we ate all week. (That’s X3 btw). The sweet potato gratin was left on all of our plates though as none of us liked that. The Sweet onion relish was a nice accompaniment to the Buffalo.

Desserts were fun, though we were all pretty full. But you know you can’t go to a fancy restaurant and at least sample the desserts.

Dustin had the Carmelized Peach cake. He didn’t care for it much, but the rest of us loved it. It was very moist and tasty.

Carl tried the berry cobbler and didn’t want to share. His was gone in short order.

Darla had the Hazelnut Chocolate Torte with lavender ice cream. While the torte was nice and she liked the ice cream, when Dustin said “it tastes like shampoo” Carl and I had to agree with him.

I had the Coffee Two ways. It was my favorite dessert that night, though I am not a coffee lover. My only complaint is that I wish the crème brulee had been warm.

Our server was a lovely young lady from China. She was pleasantly chatty with us and glad to make recommendations…although everything was “Amazing”. That was (apparently) her favorite adjective because everything she told us about was “amazing”. But, she was sweet and gave us one of favorite tag lines from our trip.

We checked the check when it came to the table. If we were paying for this meal out of pocket it would have been $301.00. While I’m not sure it was worth every penny – it was voted as the best meal we had, in our post trip poll. We will definitely go back.

Thanks so much for your great review and pictures. I have been waiting for an AP review as I have booked this for November. There don't seem to be many reviews.

great review! That buffalo is "Amazing" isn't it? I am not a salmon fan, but I tried a friend's cedar plank salmon and what a difference! I didn't realize either how much flavor it added.

I am a mushroom fan and the portobello mushroom soup is fantastic (or is that "Amazing" :rotfl2: )

Thanks for sharing your review

We are going here on our trip and cant wait!!!!!
Thanks for the report and great pics.
:) :)

Enjoyed reading your review, thanks for posting.

Thanks for the review - if the menu is still the same I`ll go for the cheese, buffalo then cobbler - cannot wait!

Thanks for the great pics and reviews. We ate at Artist Point in September and really liked it.

Glad you had such a good time.

Thanks for the great review. I have never had buffalo before does it just taste alot like a steak? I am going to Artist Point in December and am trying to decide between the buffalo and beef tenderloin.
Thanks again!!!:)

What can I say? Amazing! :rotfl: The buffalo and berry cobbler are two of my very favorites too.

Nice pictures Snowman. I've been to Bucksport before to see the Witch's boot on Jonathan Buck's grave stone.

AP will let you substitute if you do not want the sweet potato gratin, my wife substituted the mac and cheese (which is excellent).

We thought it did. I was expecting a "gamey" taste like with deer (its that time of year again here), but was pleasantly surprised that there was none. Its just the best steak we've ever had.

That's very cool. I used to live next door to that graveyard, until we bought our house a little further away.

Sheesh, now you tell me. :) I'll remember this when we go back next year. It'll be amazing. ;)

Great review! We had 2 DDP credits left, so at the last minute, we went there Saturday night and also had a wonderful experience. I had the duck salad (and the green stuff was very tasty)... The halibut was perfect and the berry cobbler was the best dessert I had in my whole 11 day trip.
