If you haven't received the latest edition of the Disney magazine, they mentioned some of the plans for Walt's 100th birthday celebration.

Specifically, they said that they will set up a pin station under the giant sorcerer hat that they're erecting in MGM. They'll be selling the interactive pins there.

The pins are supposed to light up at different times. For instance, during the Spectromagic parade you can expect to see everyone's pins going off.

It also said that there are going to be kiosks where you can stop and answer questions about Disney. Get the question right, and your pin will light up.

This is going to be fascinating.:)

These pins sound totally awesome! But of course I am curious. How do the pins know!!!

(and PLEASE don't say "pixie dust!" or I will puke)

Do they have sensors inside them or something? And I sure would think that they would be priced at more than $10-$15 if they were that sophisticated. I haven't seen the article (don't have my mag yet), but I thought I'd ask. Hope someone knows the answers!

They didn't give the details as to how the pins will work.

I thought that it was very interesting that they're building this HUGE sorceror hat and putting a pin station under it.

I guess it's better than making it a popcorn stand, but I was a little surprised.

Whatever the deal is with these pins, I hope that they're easily available for everyone.

the pins you are referring to will be called magical moment pins. the pins will activate by touch, music, locations, parades, things of that sort. i really dont have much info on them, the pin will flash or light up in certain locations for different events or sounds. once i learn more i will try to keep you up to date, ttfn.

There are sendors in the streets so the floats can be tracked. Do you think the pins are going to working off the floats and/or the sensors in the streets?

I heard the pins will have a sensor inside. Not only are they to go off with the parade floats and at kiosks, but there is supposed to be some interaction with the characters as well. I heard from a reliable source that the pins will be $16 each and there will be 5 different types, but no elaboration on types since I was told that I had better start saving my money now!!!!!!!!!!

Hope that gives you a better idea. The person who told me this is not really a pin collector just a specific pin character and type pin collector. Have gotten many of my cm and le pins from this person who thinks most of them are nothing to write home about. If these pins made that kind of impression.......... We'll have to wait and see I guess.

SOunds like a great way to sell pins. I can see kids now not wanting those glow sticks - they want pins that light up!!
