I just thought I would chime in about the Art of Animation Resort opening in May. This resort is mostly made up of family suites that will sleep 6 people and have a small kitchenette. The standard rooms will not be available until the very end of December, and will be the Little Mermaid rooms only. There are no standard rooms in any of the other Pixar themes. I checked prices beginning December 31st for 6 nights and the standard rooms are exactly the same price as a standard pool view room at Pop Century. When this resort was first announced I also thought that perhaps this would be in the moderate category, but it is actually a value resort. The family suites are priced a little higher than the family suites at All Star Music. I'm guessing this is because ASM only offers two single sleeper chairs instead of another queen size bed like the new suites.
As a family we have only every stayed at the moderate, deluxe, and DVC resorts or off-site. The opening of Art of Animation has made me excited about a value resort for the first time. During our next trip to WDW we will be staying in a Nemo themed suite for a few days and then moving over to our home resort Bay Lake Tower. I know my two young kids are going to love Art of Animation and I'm actually very excited about the new food court. We recently stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and I felt that the Mara had some of the best counter service food I had ever eaten. I think the addition of new and different options is a great idea, not to mention the fact that everything will be made to order which is always a good thing. For someone who would normally rather stay off-site than at a value resort, I'm actually really looking forward to my stay at Art of Animation.
