We are going to Disney at the end of the month and I'm thinking about trying to upgrade our resort reservation.

We are currently staying at AoA in a Mermaid room. I've read some other posts about the distance of the mermaid rooms compared to the bus stops, etc. With a 4 year old in tow, I'm thinking about just spending a little extra cash for the convenience of being closer to the stops and the lobby.

Besides the obvious difference in theme, do y'all have a preference between the Nemo, Lion King, and Cars suites?

The mermaids rooms are very cute, the walk did feel far at the end of the day. I do t think it's far enough that I'd spend the difference for a suite. If I were to spend more I'd upgrade to a moderate.

I love Cars!

I toured the Lion King and they are nice, not my color palate. Location is great to main hub and I guess it's formal pool is Big Blue. Has a "playground" with not much playing.

Nemo are well done outside, love the landscaping ... but I don't want to be at the main pool area for all the noise. The plus is right at pool and main playground which is great and most rooms close proximity to main hub.

Cars ......... WOW ............ thought I was in the movie. Roads, cars, the quiet pool is SO COOL with cone cabanas. Most rooms are not far to main hub. Room decor is good but toned down color wise.

Thanks for the responses! We have decided to stay in our Mermaid room and hope for the best. We were in Wilderness Lodge last summer and really enjoyed the hotel, but were hoping for a more toddler friendly lodge this time around, since it will just be DH, DD and I (last summer was our entire extended family of 9 people). I did call Disney and inquire about changing rooms, but adding an additional $1100 to our reservation just isn't worth it to us. We'll just be getting our steps in for the day instead!

We had initially booked our family of five (one being under 3) in a mermaid room and in the end upgraded to a Nemo Suite. We do not regret it at all! The extra space was awesome!!

But, if there are only 3 of you, you will probably be fine in the mermaid room. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for your response excited about our cars stay

Have stayed there twice with my dw and 2 dds. Girls were 4,2 and 5,3 on trips and never had an issue with walks to buses or lobby. 2nd trip we considered staying in lion king just to change it up but the price for 9 nights was over twice what it was to stay in ariel room. If you taking a shorter trip maybe price difference would be worth it. Look on the map and request the building with king triton in front of it, its closest to busses and you can cut through parking lot and walk is no more than 5 mins. If your walking to lobby or nemo pool walk is just slightly longer but get to enjoy the awesome ariel and lion king themeing on your walk. Ariel section also offers a less crowded pool to let the kids enjoy a quick swim. If you have young girls I think they would love the ariel rooms, I know mine did.
