Is Art of Animation still offering a drawing class? Has anyone done this before? I've never been to the resort but I know my daughter would LOVE this. If it is still being offered, do you know the days/times? Thanks so much

They should be - they were last year when we visited . It was offered at 3 times each day I believe. Hopefully someone can confirm who has been recently.

Thank you- Does anyone know where I can see a list of the daily activities at Art of Animation online? I can't seem to find this information. Or is there a number that I can call the to speak to someone at the resort?

Orlando Theme Park News posts Activities Schedules monthly.:)

No, you're right, it's not on the activity sheet. When I went there was a little sign in the lobby stating the times. The class was at 11am, 2pm, and 5pm when we were there. The whole thing took maybe 30 minutes, possibly less. It was very cool, but quite informal, taking place in a corner of the lobby, with each step being projected onto the screen, and participants sitting around on benches with clipboards.

You can probably call, but I'm not sure what the direct number is. From what I understand, when you call the resort, you are actually speaking to someone working offsite, so I'm not sure if they would have the daily info. If you aren't staying at AoA or Pop, maybe have a CM at your hotel call AoA directly?

Thank you but I don’t see the drawing class listed. Am I missing something?
They used to list Animation Academy, but stopped a while back.

Here is the sign from last week.

I stopped reading at "Specialty drink of the day". :rotfl2:

Now I need to look at all of the resorts and see who else has this listed as an "activity".

(ETA: I did a quick browsing and it seems that only the value resorts have drinks of the day.)

It's nice to know, the drawing class is still available somewhere since it is no longer at Hollywood Studios. It was one of my favorite things to do at HS.

We had 5 kids in our group, ages 5-10 and they all loved it, even the 5 year old. I can't stress how great this resort is. We needed that down time, away from the parks and AOA had so much to offer us. Our kids were the perfect age for this resort. They did EVERYTHING it offered and had a blast. If you have young kiddos, you should seriously consider this resort.

Are these open to adults too or is this intended for kids? Thinking of going in Dec with my boyfriend, but he won't like it if it's too childish. I really miss the classes at HS (as you can see from my avatar, lol) and hope this version is similar.

I would love to do this when I'm there! Though my fiance is talented and I can barely draw a stick figure. I'll just put our pictures up in a room that isn't well traveled at home, so people can't see how bad I am!

I think this activity is more geared toward adults, actually. Kids participate, but the class moves kind of quickly, and many kids have a hard time following along. I did the class last fall with my kids (9 and 10 at the time). The older one kept up pretty well until towards the end, and he basically said "screw it" and turned Rapunzel into a vampire. The younger one got lost quite a bit earlier, and just gave up. Certainly, I saw kids who were really into it, but they seemed to be kids who were either good at drawing to start or not overly concerned with perfection.

The class itself is quite informal. It's in a corner of the lobby at AoA. People sit on a bench or the floor and have clipboards and a pencil while the CM's drawing is projected onto the TV for everyone to follow. My guess is the class size and makeup can vary widely from session to session.

Thanks so much for this information. It gives me something to think about!

Tip: bring an eraser. Pencils are provided; erasers aren't.

This is just speculation, but maybe it's to keep people drawing and not slowing things down by erasing mistakes as they go. I don't know, but I think if my kids didn't feel "stuck" with their first errors, they would have been more willing to keep going. An eraser will also allow you to erase the guide-lines you make at the start
