But did you use the text function to see when the next scheduled bus would be at? If you dont check the bus times and just turn up and then get mad you have to wait, then its your fault , not the bus company. Do you use city busses on a regular basis? Alot of the frustrations with ART are because people are not used to using public transport in their day to day lives.
I literally just stayed at the HoJo and used ART this weekend. Even though it is a short 10 minute walk, we were with someone who had mobility issues who preferred to ride.
My experience was mixed at best. Basically, if the bus happened to be there when we walked out of the park, then we hopped on and everything was fine. But if there was any kind of wait it seemed impossible to know when the bus would arrive with no reliable way to figure out when that might be.
I would love to know a better way to utilize ART, but this was my experience:
Maybe I was doing something wrong, but whenever I tried to look up the time that the bus would be at the
Disneyland Main Transportation Center, it said “no arrival information for this stop“. It gave that stop text2go code as “1“ - but when you text that number to 41411 it says that 1 is not a valid code.
I tried to guess when a bus be at the Transportation Center, based on when the site said the buses would arrive at the Courtyard stop (which is the first stop for HoJo after leaving the park on the Disney Way line). This worked as expected one time. A second time no bus ever showed up even though we had waited quite a while, so I’m unclear how it could have been at the Courtyard stop at the advertised time if it never stopped at the Transportation Center. A third time, the bus was scheduled to arrive at the Courtyard stop at 1:00, however, the bus didn’t arrive at the transportation center until 12:57, and when it did arrive the driver said he was going on break so it would be 10 to 15 minutes before the bus left.
Seemed like there was no way to have any idea when a bus would come, which meant at times waiting half an hour - which to me is too long to wait for a 10 minute walk! To make matters worse, it was very sunny this weekend and a large section of the waiting area is not covered.
I’d say, if we were staying somewhere more than a 25 minute walk away, and could figure out some way to get reliable arrival times, then it would be worth it. But any closer than that and you are better off walking. And if I’m in the same situation again, I’m going to suggest that person put their money toward renting a scooter instead of the ART.
