I found out my flight to Orlando has come down in price and wanted to cancel and rebook with the cheaper price. The only problem is my booking is return trip. I cant cancel the flight there and keep the flight home , because the return is on avaliable right now for booking although I have 3 seats on that plane. I sure hope I make sense. They want me to cancel all you cant canel 1/2. So if I booked through southwest again I would book them separately.
Any advice?

If you select change flights, you can change only one leg of your trip. If this does not work, you can call Southwest directly and they will lower the fare on your outbound flight.

I've been able to change one leg of a trip that i booked as a whole...

I read all your posts.. before I posted I called southwest directly and she said either cancel it all or none and I couldnt change just the outbound flight. Now is it not available !!!

How do I change just the flight one way do I go through my reservation link or what link on southwest?? I will keep looking and hopefully they will go down again.

if so, just noticed last night that in the fare rules it says in bold print...half way down the page...

Changes to any portion of the reservation ( flight, dates, cities and/or names of passengers ) once purchased will result in the cancellation of the ENTIRE reservation and rebooking at the lowest fare available which could result in a fare increase.

I usually call and have them make my changes over the phone. It's much easier that way and they always give me the lower fares.

I called twice yesterday I didnt know how to change it over the computer myself. The first lady said no way cancel all of it but I told her that the return flight said unavailable now and I wanted to keep it . No way she said all or nothing to get the lower rate.
The second time the lady was so helpful but once she walked me through it the process to change it .. she didnt know she could change it I guess ... then she said becasue i booked it over the internet she couldnt but i could myself... the seats were then gone.
I will keep trying and watching for a lower rate and now I know how to change it myself.

Worst case... If you call them during the time a lower rate is available for the same flight.. they will credit you the difference for a future ticket, or in some cases refund your CC... you have to call them as soome as you see the lower rate.

They said that the cheapest rate she had was 79.00 which was what I got it for. Because I booked the internet special she didnt have access to that one.
I told her the cheaper rate which was available but she had to go and talk to somone it was not available for me to do it through the site which she was walking me through.
