I am pretty good on computers when it comes to typing, executing programs, designing things, etc. However, the technical side just kills me. All the computers in our house are on a wireless network. The desk top that sits right next to the box keeps losing Internet. It says the connection is strong, but it says there is a network problem. I have no idea how to fix it. Well, actually I do. My solution - buy a new computer. None of the other computers in our house are having this issue. It is so frustrating!

Is the desktop the wireless connection or is it hooked directly to the wireless router? If it's hooked directly to the wireless router, try a new cable. If it's wireless - try the following - disable the wireless card and re-enable it. (Go to Network - right click on the wireless card - choose disable . Repeat process and choose enable)

That will force the card to talk to the network

You could be putting to much RF signal into the computer or vice versa since it is sitting so close to the router. The wireless cards can not handle too much signal and can be "de-sensed" if set next to Access Point. Much the same way your TV could knocked out by a CB'er or a low passing aircraft.

Techie talk...if the signal is about a -45, you are probably killing it. Either hard-wire the connection or move the router away from the computer.

OK, I'll try that.

If moving it doesn't work, try changing the signal channel. That alleviated a similar problem a computer at work was having. Your manual should explain how.
