So excited:yay: Arriving tomorrow morning. We want to eat good food but don't want to spend a fortune. I do the dining plan at Disney and know the best ways to maximize etc., but have no clue about US.

Any suggestions on where to eat? Ways to eat good food cheap? etc?

Will probaly try the Meal Deal one day....but don't see that as something to do everyday.

Plan to bring some snacks with me (granola bars, etc).

thanks for any input!

Our group is me, my mom, my dad, ds9, dd6

We like Thunder Falls Terrance in IOA (back by the large drop of Jurassic Park). The meals aren't outrageous in price but are large enough that we actually split them among adults and just supplement with a few extra sides.
Margaritaville is another place that the meals are huge and the prices aren't bad. In US we like Richter Burger for a quick meal and Finnegins for a sit-down. If you are AAA members, take your card with you since all the restaurants (expect Emerils) offer a 10% discount when you show your card. Several of the stores give the discount also when you show the card.

for RPH:
Orchid court/lounge is open in the lobby at 6 in the morning.
items are ala cart.

Island dining room open morning also, sit down restuarant.

city walk has pastamore for breakfast menu at the side window.

(not sure if Burger King at city walk is open early morning.)

when you say arriving early, how early is that?

city walk's other places for breakfast fare opens at 8:00 am

confisco grille at port of entry/ioa has breakfast offerings.

you will find, for the most part, the food will be cheaper at universal than what you are used to at disney.
