Arriving on AP block out day

We have our vouchers for Deluxe APs. We are arriving on Sat. July 18th, which is a block out day. We were planning on just visiting DTD that evening and entering the parks on Sunday.

But then I remembered a while back people said you could use your AP voucher for the first time on a block out day. Is this still the case? Does anyone know for sure and tried it recently? Does it make a difference whether you enter the park with your voucher or get your AP at a ticket booth first?

Blockout days do not apply on the first day of your AP. My friend 2 weeks ago activated his SoCal Select AP on a Saturday. No issues.

You can arrive on a blackout date. The vouchers will get you into the park, though sometime during that day, you will be required to go to a ticket booth and trade in your voucher for your actual annual pass. We bought the Socal Select annual pass a couple weeks ago and the voucher was like any other 1 day park hopper ticket. It didn't have our names on it or anything. Once we went to the ticket booth half way through the day, we were able to get our actual pass, which was personalized with our name and photo pass number.
