How late can we arrive before our reservation is cancelled? We are going to be cutting it close getting to Boma the first day. If I called ahead would they hold the table? I've tried moving the reservation but nothing available as of yet. We leave next week.

about 15 minutes and you are supposed to check in 15 minutes early. I would cancel if you don't think you can make it or be prepared to pay the charge.

You can't "call ahead", as when you call, you don't get the actual restaurant...you get a call center.

Agree with the PP...either cancel or be prepared to pay the $10/pp charge if it comes to that.

OY!! oK, how long could I expect to wait at Boma without a reservation? Will I even be able to get in?
party of four for dinner on a sunday evening.

Bag it. You don't need the stress of this. My opinion is bag the fast pass instead. Boma is awesome.

If you want to try Boma you really need to keep the reservation. I would not chance a walk up. It's become a very popular restaurant. As a matter of fact, there aren't many restaurants at Disney that you can just do a walk up anymore.....unfortunately.

We were about half an hour late to Kona once and when I called they said to just take our time getting there, though I'm not sure if that's the norm or not.

1. You were lucky.
2. Kona is not Boma. It's closer, demand wise, to Ohana. They will usually turn away walkups.
3. If you phoned, you got a call center that wasn't even on property.

Agree with everything in your post. Any public phone number goes to a call centre, never the restaurant, resort, nor housekeeping, etc, etc. They will answer as though you are calling directly but you will have only reached the call centre. The call centre CMs often give information that isn't accurate.

At about 15 minutes past your ADR time the restaurant can cancel you ADR and you can be charged the no show fees.

There is no guaranteed amount of time that a location will "hold" a reservation. I would count on not being able to arrive late at all. They can cancel your ADR as soon as you are not there on time and charge you a no show fee or they may give you some time. Depends on a number of factors and can even change at one location day to day (or hour by hour).

If by "cutting it close" you mean 15 minutes then I think you will be fine. We were actually about 45 minutes late for 1900 park fair because I took a wrong turn from the hotel. We showed up apologized profusely and they sat us as soon as they could. We never got charged for no-show. I know they could have and had no reason to actually sit us but I think they saw how frustrated I was. It was the first morning of my nephews first trip and they made it only 10 minutes late but I (who actually lived there at the time) took the wrong turn and went towards Epcot instead of MK out of habit.

Change your adr if you don't think you will make it

Remember if your late your are actually messing with the plans of other people. You arriving late causes others to get seated late. That can then screw up there plans for later. Yes this is your vacation but take the time to think about everyone else on vacation that your being late can effect

We had a restaurant CM tell us recently that they make every effort to seat people who have an ADR but are late - they may just have to wait longer. This CM said that they have a lot of discretion about charging the no-show fee and generally won't do it if the party shows up at some point during that meal duration (breakfast period, lunch period, etc.), even they are very late. Your mileage may vary, of course, and they may be more strict about it during exceptionally busy times. But it doesn't appear to be automatically enforced at some arbitrary point past your ADR time.

FWIW, when we were at 1900 Park fare in January they said as long as you show up that meal time, they will seat you. (you might have to wait). I made a reservation for 4:45 for 5 but then my dad and his wife took a later flight then I thought. They didn't show up until 5:30. We were seated at 5:45. I was in a quandary because I could not find a reservation for 3. I decided to just show up and explain, and it worked out fine.

Oh, and there's no 'holding of tables' It is a place in line. They let everyone go in based on the time of their ADR and arrival time. If you aren't there, they'd just seat the next one on that list then insert you when you arrive.

I would not chance this if you already are worried you may be late. This level of stress on an arrival day for a restaurant never makes sense to me. I would cancel and have dinner at CS before I put myself and my family through this.

It is not likely you can walk up to Boma. It can happen but I would never count in it.
