we are running early and will arrive about an hour ahead of our scheduled arrival time. Will they make us wait to check in?? Ps.... I'm so excited!!!

Usually you are fine arriving before your PAT, but if the terminal is near capacity, they may make people with later PAT times wait until the earlier people start to board. This would be most likely to happen if boarding is delayed for any reason.

ETA: Just reread your post. You are arriving today? If so, you are late enough you should be able to board soon after checking in. Have a great cruise!

As noted, it depends on how busy the terminal is whether you are asked to wait before entering.

One other note - your boarding number that you get at check in is tied to your Port Arrival Time. You'll receive the same boarding number, regardless if you arrive earlier or later that that time.

Miami can be strict, but their terminal is much smaller. I'm not sure where you're departing from, so that's why I singled that port out.

Do be aware that it very likely will NOT change your boarding group - so you'll just be in the terminal longer than you would have been before and people who arrive later but at their correct PAT may well board before you.

ETA: As Shmoo said. :P

So then if my official arrival time is 1:40 then we will not be allowed on untill then?

Yes we are leaving today!!
We should be there in about 10 minutes!!!!

Boarding today, I was assuming you were on the Dream out of PC. If that is the case, then I haven't seen any posts about boarding being delayed today. They usually move to open boarding around 12:30 so you should be able to get right on. If you are out of another port, it could be different.

What @Maggie'sMom said. When the boarding group they are handing out catches up to the group they are boarding, it goes to open boarding and any group number can board. Usually around 12:30, but sometimes later.

Open boarding typically happens between 12:30 and 1:00 PM at Port Canaveral. So you would be able to board by then anyway. IF everything is going as scheduled and there are no issues or delays.
Anything prior to that you will wait for your Boarding group number to be called. So even if you arrive at 11 AM, you would just be standing around in the terminal anyway.

Have a great cruise!

You might not see this but are you on the dream? I know the fantasy is in CC and don't know about Magic class ships.
