Because of work obligations I'm considering booking a redeye flight that would put us in Orlando at around 8 am. We have booked our stay at the Port Orleans Riverside. Would we still be able to take the bus from the airport. How do they handle the bags until our room is ready. I would like to pick up the rental car as soon as we arrive at the resort. Does this mean taking all our bags to the car rental? Thanks for any info from anyone who has arrived early.

First, WHERE are you picking up your rental car? MCO or WDW?

We have taken early flights into MCO (landing around 8ish) as well. While we were on the Magical Express bus to our resort, I've received a text that our room was ready. Our bags arrived about an hour and a half after that.

If your room is not ready when you arrive at your resort, they hold the bags and deliver when your room has been assigned and is ready.

The Magical Express runs 24 hours a day, so you will be able to take it from the airport to your resort. If you used the yellow luggage tags and checked your luggage in with your airline then your luggage will be delivered to your room sometime during the day. If you keep your luggage with you or have carry on bags, then you can check them with Bell Services at your resort and they will hold them until you are ready to pick them up and take them to your room.

Unlike a lot (if not most) hotels, WDW hotels allow you to check in before the actual check-in time - in fact, you can check in as early as 6 am, which is when the hotel computers turn over to the current day's date, although a room might not be available that early. Taking the bus that early is not a problem - if you're using the luggage delivery service, your bags are supposed to arrive 3-4 hours after you check in, but you don't have to wait for them - you can pick up your rental car, go to a park or do whatever else you want to do and the bags will be waiting in your room when you get back. If you're taking the bags on the bus with you, you can of course put them in your room if it's available, or if it's not, you can leave them with Bell Services.

We just did this last month. We landed at 7:30 am at MCO. Took Magical Express to our resort and checked in. Our room wasn't ready yet so they held our carry-ons for us at Bell Services and we headed to MK. While we were there I got a text that our room was ready. When we got to our room, both our checked luggage and the carry-ons the resort was holding for us were in our room. It all went very smoothly.

Frequently my room has been ready early. It depends how busy it is. If they have a lot of people checking out that morning your chance of getting a room early lessens.

If you're renting your car from the CCC (car care centre) ask the concierge desk when you arrive at the resort to call them to pick you up. They run a shuttle and will pick you up or drop you off anywhere on Disney Property. Great service.

Thank you so much for the info. I do believe we will arrive early and just enjoy. We will be picking up our rental car at WDW.

It is hit or miss. We normally arrive around 11am. We always try to check in. Most of the times they can get us in. A few times we had to wait an hour or two.

We usually arrive early to our resort and arrived by 8:30am this past fall. Disney is great and will welcome and check you in once you arrived. Most times we have had our room ready before the normal check in time, and I find if you don't have too many requests they can get a room for you earlier than if you have more requests. We have left our bags with Bell services while arriving early and leaving after check out time and had great success with both.
