Just wondering if anyone has done the afternoon at AK instead of the morning.

Any tips?

Thanks,

Yes, in fact, I like to get there right AT lunchtime to eat at Pizzafari, then do the safari, get really hot and sweaty and then go on Kali.

Afternoons are great. You might not see as many animals on the safari though, the animals like to hide from the afternoon heat, but I've still seen quite a few then. :sunny:

I think it's fine. I feel on EMH for the evening at this park it's a great idea to come later. Usually, on regular park hours if i do afternoon only I hit one or two sections of the park. I don't try to see the whole park.

Oh heck, we do this all the time. We are not morning people at all. There are still people arriving but most importantly, there are lots of people leaving. We get a lot done after 3:00 since most of the crowds are exiting because they got there so early.

We've done the safari in the afternoon and while the animals might be a little sleepy, we've had some really good rides. Plus, it you get a good afternoon shower, make sure you are near the hippo tank on the trail. Those hippos love rain and will be very active. Plus, the viewing area is enclosed.

i prefer the morning because there is ussually a long wait for the safari, kali, primival whirl, and dinosaur if you dont get there right away.

I've done it-got there about 1:00-1:30, stayed til closing. I think the park is really less crowded in the afternoon, as most people arrive in the morning, and leave by lunch or early afternoon.

I'm planning a visit to AK on the afternoon of our arrival in November. Saturday has been a morning EMH in some months, but I figure by the time we get there, most folks will be leaving.

I always go there in the morning, but if you get there in the afternoon, I would save the Safari for right before closing in the evening. The weather would be cooler then than it is at 2 or 3pm, so the animals will be more active. Same is true for the Pangani and Maharajah trails. It also gets extremly hot in the early, so that will probably be a good time for attractions with air conditioning like Lion King, Bug, or Dinosaur.

That's what we are doing next month. It was so hot on 4/1 that we missed the parade and lunch at Flame Tree BBQ when we had to leave early. This time we are going at lunch and staying until closing.

Also, we did the safari around 12:30 in April and saw lots of animals. Now, that was my first time, so I do not have anything to compare it to, but we saw all the "major" animals except the lions.
