We fly indirect so you do immigration at the 1st airport you stop at in US. Then on arrival at MCO you just collect your bags and leave. We find it just as easy as direct but massive savings but not everyone enjoys it. This August we paid £1,170pp with Delta for Buisness class, Virgin wanted over £2,000pp for upper.
i flew through New York JFK (as i usually do) - line at immigration for non-US was pretty long....they have a uni-line but the line looked about 20 minutes long at least....(the US citizen line i was in took one minute, but US citizens aren't fingerprinted or photographed)...
customs was super fast for everyone....once the luggage came off, the customs part was walkthrough....there were so many lines, it took no time at all...
however, the connection desk (where you drop off your luggage) was a nightmare for anyone who had flown into the US on delta (i hadn't)...the line had about 100 people in it....i have no idea how long that takes as i wasn't in it...but anyone on delta must have had a very long wait in that line..
i was connecting to delta, but had arrived on a different airline, so i had no wait at all...
once you drop your luggage, you then get on the airtrain to switch terminals..
if you're going to delta terminal 3, it's pretty easy....if however, if you're going to delta terminal 2, it's not so easy...
i was told to go to terminal 3....once i was in 3, i looked at the board again and my flight had been changed to terminal 2....i now had a very long walk to get over to terminal 2 (no direct connection from the air train)..
since it was just me, it was ok, but anyone with little kids would have had a more difficult time..
one i got to terminal 2, there were no boards to check until you go through security....so i wasn't sure my flight was still out of that terminal until i got all the way through the very lengthy security check..
once on the other side i was happy to see my flight was actually there and had not been moved back to terminal 3...(which is what i was worried would happen)..
the flight itself was fine and the arrival in orlando was super simple....the airport seems to have been spruced up since my last time there (3 years ago)...
and i was so pleased with my alamo car....but i'll write about that in my trip report...
i'll write all of it up once i get back home..
