Arrived today after spending 4 days in Waikiki. Tour Pearl Harbor and did the Swap Meet this am before checking in here. We have a great one bedroom ocean view on the 8the floor over looking the Halawai Lawn , which is closed tomorrow for 6 hours due to a private event. No DVC merry mixer or anything this week because of all the special events. We knew we were in trouble when we drove in to Ko Olina and saw the LPGA signs plastered all over the lawns which is taking place apparently ALL THIS WEEK! Ladies wearing pink every where. This place is at 95% capacity or more and it is nuts here. We have already decided that our next visit will be in the fall like we did before and it was officially shoulder season. Hopefully as the week rolls on we will be able to manage but there are very few loungers, and little in the way of DVC perks going on.

We arrive Saturday. Looks like the official tournament runs 4/13-4/16. Hopefully by Monday things aren't as crazy.

It would be nice to know if there are conventions or sporting events scheduled for the Ko Olina area before booking 7 months out. The sports on the local tv today said the golf tournament really ramps up tomorrow. Ugh.

I remember thinking the same thing when I saw (online, thank goodness) the crowds for the Japanese pop group ARASHI. They were kind of like One Direction and they filmed a concert called Arashi Blast right in the area tat is not built on between Aulani and the other resorts. There are trip advisor reviews where people were citing the noise, the crowds of screaming teens, etc...I cannot even imagine how crazy that must have been, that was Sept 2014

Golf tournament play usually begins on Thursday and ends on Sunday. We went to WDW several years when the LPGA had a tournament on the Lake Buena Vista course. (That is the course that runs from Saratoga Springs through Old Key West.) We were staying at OKW and attended the tournament. We were following a foursome and wanted a break. When we got to our building we walked off the course and went into our villa for a break. We got some strange looks from spectators when we showed up on our ground floor balcony with iced tea and sandwiches and watched from there. The crowds were not bad then and we enjoyed watching them play. Our experience was that the tournament spectators were out on the course following the players all day and didn't disturb us. I don't remember the resort being crazy or overrun with people, but then anyone not at the tournament was probably in the parks!

We are also here now & ironically, three years ago we also were at Aulani when the golf tournament was going on.
It hasn't effected us. Plenty of beach chairs, pool chairs are busy, but staff is very active about enforcing the one hour rule. We've been able to do walk up dining at the resort and at MonkeyPod.
Most of the golf people seem to be out of the resort most of the day
