well after 1200 miles of driving,we lost our a/c as we crossed the florida border and overheated pulling into the boardwalk..were here..yea
We went to the front desk and were told our room was the last available and it would be ready soon.We had reserved a bw-preferred view room and were being given one overlooking the pool.Well i showed my reservation letter and the cm said he would call his supervisor because all the bw view rooms he was trying to assign the computer would not acceppt.Well we were finally assigned a room ( 2051 ) if anyone knows the location,I was a bit dissapointed after waiting 10 months to have an enclosed balconey on the 2nd floor with a terrible view.I went to the front desk and asked if there was anything else available and was told they were all assigned and nothing else was available.I was pretty much speechless at this point and my 14 year old son was patting me on my back and doing his best to cheer me up when a very nice cm said to let her check one last time and surprise surprise there was another room on the 5th floor room 5051 with the most amazing view we could ask for.Well the Magic has returned an the car can wait till tomorrow to worry about.we will enjoy our view of the fireworks tonight and start over in the morning.I was just wondering how all the rooms are assigned ???Is it the early bird catches the worm..because they do assign a room number and tell you to call later to see what room it is but the number is assigned on the computer already.Well thats enough for now i just needed to get some of this off my chest so thanks for listening.

I am glad you arrived safely. It had to have be a bit scary there for a while.
Atleast you got the room you hoped for in the end.
I was under the impression that the rooms are first come first serve, but I could be understanding it wrong.
It sounds like you have a nice son that was comforting at a time you needed him to be. Have a GREAT vacation.

The latest Vacation Magic had a blurb in it about the "room ready" policy. Basically, the rooms are assigned as they become ready, so people can check in as early as possible, as opposed to having to wait until "official" check in time.

Glad you got there safely and hopefully your car can be repaired efficiently and without too much expense! Enjoy your stay. We'll be at the Boardwalk in December...can't wait!

I stayed in 5051 the last time I stayed at Boardwalk (12/04)! It is a great view! I think it is actually "borderline" boardwalk view because it is not directly over the boardwalk, the rooms next to it to the right are considered preferred garden.

Yes, it does seem to be "the early bird catches the worm" as far as room assignment now with room ready. So it doesn't matter if you booked at 9:01am 11 months ahead at your home resort or at the last minute and got the last available reservation. It's whoever shows up first the day of check-in.

Was at the BWV beginning of May and when we checked in at 530-6 pm-CM said,
"Well, let's see if your room is ready yet"!!!!! First time in all the years of traveling we've done that comment has been made to me close to 2 hours after the 'official check in time".

The early bird version only works if the people checking out of the "good villas" check out early - some of us consider all villas on property to be great, and some of us stay until check out time.

well thanks all for your comments,were going to let AAA take care of the car and to answer a pm the view from 2051 .The porch area is almost completely enclosed and the view is of the garden and the bw inn,you dont really see the boardwalk at all but it is considered in the boardwalk category.
