Late, tired and cranky plus the lights inside the camper won't work but it was too dark and we were too tired at 9 p.m. to fix it. Thinking the stuff shifting in the cargo hatch must have pulled something loose. But the a/c was fine so we plugged it in and passed out!

We really hated driving on 95 - so much stop and go and traffic jams. Virginia was horrible! May need to map a new route home.

But for now it's almost time to finish the journey!

Congrats on making it that far in your journey.

I have a recommendation for your ride home. When you get north of Richmond there is a road called 301. You can take this north through Virginia and Maryland to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and then continue it to Delaware. At the end of 301 take 896 to I-95. I always travel this route. There are lights in North Virginia, but quite honestly the route is mostly very scenic and will definitely avoid the traffic you experienced. After being stuck in DC/Virginia traffic on 95 once memorable Friday afternoon, I found this route and now stick with it.

Enjoy your trip!

That was how we came down a few weeks ago, thanks to DIS advice. Easy and low stress. There were a few lights, but we kept moving for the most part. Tried 95 on the way home, and spent HOURS stopped in traffic. We then took 287 to 87 North to Newburgh.

Good luck!
