Trying to get a sense of what I need for the ArriveCAN app. Specifically:

We are a party of 5 (2 adults, 1 19-yr old, 2 17-yr olds). I created the account under my name and it is currently on my phone. It looks like I can add everyone's information on my app/account, including proof of their vaccinations and passport information. Do all of us have to have the app on each of our phones? Typically we all go through customs together when travelling.

Sorry to OP for hijacking the thread but cbc news, in an incidental way, mentioned this morning that the app is down for scheduled maintenance until approx next Tues Dec.14. See link below to the 'stupid with stupid' article about half way through under subheading 'accepting in-person documents'. Has anyone else heard this? TIA.

And just to add - really?? Messing with the app for 'scheduled maintenance' when the first waves of senior snowbirds are trying to cross back into Canada? My tech knowledge is limited, and I appreciate all apps must be revised and bugs fixed every so often, but the timing is nutty. Piling on the stress for seniors as well as CBA. Can't make this stuff up.

hubby says it will be directly related to the breach that was discovered yesterday that allows hackers to exploit security measures on servers. It is bad enough that GO transit/Presto immediately went off-line. I don't think I've seen him get up so quickly from the couch as he did last night when he read the news ... promptly up to his office to check his websites. Apparently it will allow data mining, the ability to make direct changes to coding, which will lead to not "scheduled" so much as "let's call it scheduled so we look like we're being proactive" maintenance

I had read earlier in the week on the Canadian government website to always carry paper copies of vaccine receipts and test results. It makes sense but it hadn’t occurred to me before reading that.

I will make sure to carry hard copies of everything now and I think everyone should. It’s so easy for something to go wrong and then you have no proof and clearly the border is learning as they go.

* and just as a slight side rant. You know those people who used to get in the fastpass line but weren’t ready to tap their band or didn’t have their whole party and then clogged up the whole line ?

Imagine what that’s going to be like in the airport over Christmas with all the stuff we need to show and have ready . I will be going very early and packing my patience for sure.:scared:

Thanks for the heads up and explanation! Read this morning that CRA has done the same. :sad2:

You all go through together. The info will be linked to the person who filled it out and accessible on their passport.
