How early does one need to arrive for Festival of the Lion King these days, and does it vary by show time?

If you are talking about getting specific seats, there no bad seats on this show. Otherwise we have arrived from 30 to 10 minutes prior and never had trouble getting in. Probably depends on overall crowd levels.

We were there the first week of June, so things might have calmed down a little since then. However, we went to the end of the line for a show starting early afternoon (can't remember the exact time) about 30-35 minutes before the show started, and were told that we would not make into that showing. We were not staying at AK all day, so we skipped it and headed back to the resort.

That may have been the exception rather than the norm, but the day we were there, I would say you would have had to be in line at least 45 minutes early to get in.

Thank you! Hopefully a few more people will respond (I've been watching the "here now, just back" thread too and not seeing much). I'm okay with waiting if we have to, but since waiting will be required for so many things, if we can get in to this with <30 minutes that would be great. Not worried about which seats.

This is a little outdated experience, but we saw the show on 6/24. I want to say it was the last show of the day. We walked up to one person in line and were waved in by the CM and, by the way the CM was talking, we thought we would be one of the last groups let in. I honestly was surprised we got in so easily after reading about the lines. However, many people streamed in after us - this would have been about 15 -20 minutes before the show start.

If it's a must-do I wouldn't take a chance like we did though with the last show. We had a few that didn't want to go (thinking it would be a line) but I pulled a u-turn and went to try before we went back over to Everest, lol. We were seated fairly close in our section (4th row maybe?) and they were also filling another section still too while people coming in the rows behind us.

My teen was ticked we stopped, but the rest of us LOVED it :)

Also, I think I read somewhere on here, they added a couple of shows, that should help too.
