I wanted to jump in here.... We have an 11:55am flight home to Canada on a Saturday... If we left hojo for 8am will that be enough time?

You should be at the terminal at 9am. Are you checking a bag or returning a rental car? I'd probably pad that more than 8am, especially if it's a holiday weekend.

Maaaaybe if they're renting a car, but three hours ahead of time is plenty to check a bag. There shouldn't be traffic at 8am on a Saturday, even if it's a holiday weekend.

The 2 times last year that I flew international out of LAX there was a single x-ray machine for the entire terminal which caused a 2nd line after the agents tagged the bag. There's a reason they recommend 3 hours for an international flight. On Saturday morning of a holiday, there's a good chance you're still going to see lines out of the terminals until mid-morning, which is why I brought that up.
