Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone might have experience of this.

We’re only going for a week and in order to save money, we’re travelling with just hand luggage. We will be travelling with a stroller for the younger of our 2 kids. I’m hoping we’ll be gate checking this. Question is, does anyone know if we will get it back at the gate on the other side or will we need to wait at the luggage carousel? I’m not sure whether the airline or the airport dictate this? We’re flying with Westjet if that matters.

We’ve flown with strollers before and had both circumstances happen so not sure whether it might be just luck rather than design.

When we flew down in February of last year, we gate checked our stroller the whole way from Northern BC and were able to pick it up at the gate when we arrived at MCO. If you check the stroller (like your luggage) and don't want it for traveling through the airport, then you would pick it up from the baggage claim area.

We have flow with strollers for years and if it is gate checked you will receive it gate checked. I don't think they would make people walk through an airport hauling bags and kids without their stroller.

We have flow Westjet to Orlando numerous times and this was always the case.

Awesome, thank you all.

We do need the stroller in the airport because the child in question has only 2 speed settings. Bolting away from us or completely stationary.

We’ve flown with a few different airlines in the past few years and have had one or 2 incidents (nightmares) where even though we gate checked it, we’ve gotten it back on the carousel. This will be our first time flying with Westjet.

We always fly Westjet to MCO. Any gate checked items like strollers are waiting for passengers as they step off the plane onto the bridge (connecting the plane to the terminal). I have seen items like strollers, rollators, etc. in that space as we board the plane and when we leave.

Was just about to post the very same thing.. :)

Sometimes it takes them a bit to get them all out, so if you are near the front of the plane and one of the first to get off you may have to wait a bit for them to unload everything. If you’re near the back of the plane then you shouldn’t have to wait long if at all.
