On our Saturday arrival, we have early dinner reservations at Naples. I am thinking around 8-9 p.m. we might like a treat of some sort. Right now, my number one choice would be to enjoy a Dole Whip from Tangoroa Terrace. We plan on visiting the Downtown Disney area and the resort hotels. Do you have recommendations for a different option? We have never been to Disneyland. Thanks!

Two DTD recommendations:

Beignets from Jazz Kitchen Express. So hot. So delicious.

Ice Cream from Salt & Straw.

Check to see if MMM will have fireworks on your arrival day (the entertainment schedule should list "MMM with fireworks" vs. "MMM") -- on a Saturday, there should be fireworks, weather permitting. If there will be fireworks, shortly before showtime, get beignets at the Jazz Kitchen Express, find a table or a spot to sit in the nearby area, and wait for the show to begin. Be watching the sky opposite the Jazz Kitchen. (Of course, this will also work with any other treat/snack of your choice!)

Great tip! There are fireworks scheduled and that would make such a great kick-off for our trip! Thanks! What is the atmosphere on a Saturday night in April at Downtown Disney? Is it super crowded? Is it pretty safe? I am guessing with that hefty parking fee that keeps crowds down a bit. We are having dinner at Naples just to get the 5 hours of free parking!

It is extremely safe and very fun for an evening outside the parks. It will likely be crowded though... no worries since you have dinner reservations!
