So, I'm late to the party by 6 or 7 years. This show is brilliant. I have watched all three seasons on Netflix. Any other fans?
I can't wait until the movie comes out. How did this show go under my radar for so long?
Anyone who hasn't seen it and is looking for a show that's clever, hilarious, witty, smart etc needs to check this out.

I just found this show at the beginning of the year at the recommendation of my librarian. Such a well written show! Funny, smart, risque... just very well done. Plus, everyone's names are fabulous in this show.

don't hold your breath on the movie. We've been waiting a long time already and while everyone is "on board" now, it still seems highly unlikely that it will ever actually get made.

Annyong!

It's an absolute shame this show was cancelled. It's everything I want in a tv show and nothing I don't want. I got my dad the box set for Christmas and he loved it, but I didn't really ever get in the mood to borrow it from him. One day I couldn't find anything to watch instantly and found it on Netflix. I watched all three seasons in less than a week, and developed a major crush on Jason Bateman in the process.

It's "in development" now! The writers are about 50% done and I believe all the main characters have commited. Jason Bateman was on The Daily Show last month and said they should begin filming next year!
I understand your skepticism though because I have read old article after old article about rumors of a a movie years ago and it never happened. Looks to be a go!

I just saw your pic of Moss in your signature. I've just discovered The IT Crowd!

It was a FANTASTIC show. I crack up just thinking about Lucille vs Loose Seal. And there's always money in the banana stand. And the combination on anayst and therapist whose business cards nearly got him arrested: Tobias Funke, Analrapist

Ahh, good times.

Easy answer. Fox, being Fox, never gave the show any chance to succeed. It's the same old story with the Fox Network. The show won countless awards, received tons of press, and was the darling of many top critics, and, yet, Fox just let it go to waste.

With such a great comedic cast, I can't imagine they would have been able to stay together for much more than 5 or 6 seasons, but it's an absolute crime that we only have 3 seasons to enjoy.

I've watched my complete series so many times I can pretty much run the lines with the TV.

I'm not optimistic about the movie. For too many years now I've gotten my hopes up, only to have them dashed again. I'll wait until I see that filming has begun to get excited.

That tag line gets used by everyone in our family more often than, "That's what she said," from the Office.

Anytime money is mentioned, someone will say, "There's always money in the banana stand!" :rotfl:

That and Lucille's classic, "I don't understand the question, and I won't respond to it."

Tobias is, by far, my favorite character. The things he says....oh my! He's one of the funniest characters in tv history, I think.

I'm on my second go round of watching the series. I'm picking up tiny little things along the way I missed the first time.

I have never liked Scott Baio until A.D. :lmao:

How is 3 seasons letting a show go to waste:confused3 Sounds like time enough to get an audience to grow to me.

I saw the show once. Couldn't stand it AT ALL. It was torture. Yet, I watched because it was supposed to be "brilliant". That's time in my life I'll never get back:sad2:

I understand there are people who like it and that's fine, but I think most of us just wanted to kill the characters, hence the 3 seasons thing. If they really wanted to kill the show it only would have lasted 3 episodes, and won no awards at all.

You have to admit that 9 times out of 10 Fox is much better than the big 3 at letting a show find an audience. But at the end of the day they are running a business that needs to make money.

Season 1 they win the Emmy for Best Comedy, and Fox still does nothing to push the show. There was no increase in marketing or any other department. What network doesn't hype the fact that they have the Emmy-winning Best Comedy airing on their network?

The reward that they give the show instead? Cutting the season's order to just 18 episodes, in order to promote the return of the Family Guy.

Compounding matters they then continue to turn a blind eye to the critics telling them they have a goldmine if they would just promote it properly, and put the show's 3rd Season up against Monday Night Football and, again, cut the order to just 13 episodes.

Who knows? Maybe there was something internally that Fox had a problem with, but they certainly didn't know what to do with the show.

I stand by my claim that they never gave it a chance. Too much fiddling, and not enough promoting.

Honestly, I think it was just too smart of a tv show. My goodness, the little subtleties were genius.
****SPOILER*******

One of my favorite "little" details was when Michael was dating Rita and she lived in Wee Britain. He had to call her and you could hear on the other end that the phone ring tone was like the UK one vs an American.
I really thought the show had jumped the shark during the Rita episodes, but then when I realized exactly what was going on (about the same time George Michael did), I realized it was brilliant. They fooled me into thinking they had wandered into some cliched Austin Powers territory. I should have given them more credit! MR.F ;)

Funniest show ever written in my opinion. I bought my 16 year old the boxed sets last year and now he is obsessed with it. His girlfriend watched the first eppy and hated it, so he begged her to watch the first 5 and give it a try. Now, her and her family have the sets and are on the last season. I soooo want a movie bad!

I totally agree with you on it being the funniest show ever written. There are just soooooo many good quotes and situations. Sometimes just thinking about them makes me giggle (Esp Mrs. Featherbottom). I really do think the movie is finally going to happen. With Jason Bateman, Michael Cera and Will Arnett already on board and with the announcement that half the script is done it is very positive news. I just read that Liza Minelli has signed on and there is a part in the movie that Jason Bateman is trying to pitch to Jennifer Aniston. So it looks like I became a fan at the right time because I won't have to wait as long as the first fans had to. Does that make sense? I would have hated to wait 9 years...but since I just discovered it, I only have to wait 2.
I had forgotten how much I love Jason Bateman :lovestruc

I wish my family would watch it with me. I am so over the Office.

Another one of Lucille's best quotes "I'm going to the hospital bar"

And when Lucille asked Buster why he was home so early, "The Army had a half day". I thought I was going to die!

These writers are incredible.

The fiance in Wee Britian was hilarious. Just loved everything about that show.

The photo that looked like Afghanistan(?) but was balls. Linsday's Shemale tee shirt. The fake development that was little houses and shot with an odd camera angle. The jet pack.

Cafe Press actually sells a Shemale tshirt, but I'm not sure I want people wonderinng about me!

I LOVED the fake development for the Japanese investors. And the secret room in the model home that everyone but Michael knew about! LOL

Buster's Father Uncle Oscar :rotfl:

It's as Ann on the nose as plains face.

Annyong. (hello)

There are soooo many things!!

"She calls it mayon-egg." Poor Ann. LMAO!

When I was watching the episodes I knew she looked familiar but I couldn't place her. I had to look on IMDB. She plays one of the daughters on "Parenthood".

"Her? Really?"

:rotfl:
