Around how many carats is your engagement ring?

Just wondering what size diamond most people have....

I don't have an engagement ring. Everyone just assumed we were getting married some time and we did. We were together since I was a freshmen in hs and he was a sophmore. We didn't have the money for an engagement ring.

He has since given me very nice anniversary rings. I don't know the carats (can't remember), but next to my wedding ring, I have a band with 5 diamonds for our 5 yr ann. and on my right ring finger I have a band with 10 diamonds for our 10 yr ann. Can't wait for 15!!!

I have a radiant cut that is a hair above one carat. I have three baguettes on either side, that are one carat total. Not huge, but very meaningful.

My middle stone is 3/4 carat princess cut, with two baguettes on either side and then three round diamonds on either side of that.

So, all total, it's about 1 carat.

I put less then as there were no other options. I don't have an ingagement ring. Hubby and I were in the navy and had very little funding. I don't even have a wedding ring.

I have an oval gem quality sapphire (it is actually blue not almost black) as the center stone - between 3/4 and 1 carot - with 14 diamonds around it that vary from miniscule to 1/4 carot

I would not be happy if my dbf ever spent a lot of money on a ring for me. I'm not a jewelry person, and I'd probably lose it and then feel awful. We've talked about the subject and I told him I would not want him spending more than $500.

I'm also not a fan of diamonds. mamacatnv, a friend of mine has a saphire and I think it's really nice. Our other friend has some stone I've never heard of before. It's almost greenish in tint but not dark.

My engagement and wedding rings came as a set. The engagement ring is 1/3 carat and the wedding ring has 9 diamonds that make up 2/3 carat so they total 1 carat.

My engagement ring is 1/3 carat. I don't wear it anymore though....
I have a past,present and future ring that is 1 carat total.

I'd like a HUGE diamond, but would want it to be a really 'nice' one.

I have lots of rings that I do not wear......

If you mean just the center stone, I have 0.8 of a carat. If you include all the little stones on that band it's a total of 1.6 carats.

Mine is a princess cut 1/2 carat, and I love it I'm going to nursing school, so anything bigger than that wouldn't be practical. Plus, my fiance did a really good job picking it out and got a very nice quality diamond, whereas my friend has a 1 carat diamond that is cloudy.. I'd much rather have my smaller diamond!

It was very small.....we were in school and couldn't afford much.
That was back in 1972
For our 30th anniversary, we took that stone and the ones from my mother's and grandmother's rings (all pretty small) and had a ring designed that incorporated them all.

I have a heart shape too. It's 3/4 carat. Every piece of jewelry before was a heart, so it was expected!

I never bought my wife an engagement ring. We didn't have much money at the time. I laid out my financial situation for her and asked if she'd rather hold onto the savings that we had or get a ring. She opted to keep the money. I suppose we could get one now, but she's never shown any interest.

On the other hand, for our 16th anniversary, we're going to finish paying off our house and be debt free. That's an anniversary gift that she's excited about.

My original engagement ring was 1/3 carat round. Around our 16th anniversary we went to look around at the jewelry building in Boston and bought a beautiful 1 carat oval. When Mom passed away I took some of the inheritance plus the 1 carat oval and bought a 1.7 carat oval solitaire. It's beautiful and I love it. (So would Mom!)

My original ring and Mom's had the same top surface size (but hers was 1/4 carat) so I have a sapphire ring with one on either side.

Next year is our 40th anniversary. I might have all three stones set together.

2 carat Royal Asscher cut stone. It's way more than I wanted, but DH said, "No man would hit on you with that ring, because they would think they couldn't afford you." Gotta love a mans logic! Such a romantic.
