Armed Forces Car Hire - Help?

We are heading off in July for a family holiday including Dear Niece and her new husband (they get married 17th June) who is in the RAF. We know they can get free entry to Busch Gardens/Seaworld but wondered if anyone knew of any other discounts offered to members of the armed forces - particularly for car hire. Are they better off waiting until they get to Florida before arranging car hire (we arrive 3rd July for 3 weeks, but they come on they 5th for 15 days) - they would need a car at Sanford Airport - or is it cheaper for them to do as we have and arrange it before they fly (DNiece 21, new hubby 25)?

I'm not aware of any car hire armed forces discounts...
as for when to reserve, definitely make the arrangements in advance. And shop around to get the best price. There have been many threads on this board as to recommended companies in the UK through which to reserve your car.

But definitely reserve it in advance. Do NOT wait until you get there.

Hi there,

I too have my cross to bear of being a member of the RAF. The only discount I have received is when renting you mention military discount at the rental desk, I often get a discount or upgrades. Other places to check is on the community board sub board Military our american friends will know better or ask the RAF guy about his military discount booklet which lists many discounts. The one I now use is booking through airline-network.co.uk as they include everything in the price.

Again - the only discount I've secured has been at the desk (hotels & car hire) - but I too would book in advance.

Can you still get the Forces Discount Brochure? That used to list companies you could get discounts from - fraid I've lost touch a bit now!
