Arizona couple loses bid to re-join Club 33

Yet they've spent 7 years and almost a half-million dollars desperately trying to get right back into that dark, evil place that covers up sexual assault.
Apparently there’s a book coming too. Gonna need to make more money for those lawyers, so that 5 years of retirement postponement might be closer to 10 now.

None of this makes much sense to me. What did his alleged drunkenness near DCA have to do with getting kicked out of Club 33? Is there a list of members with the security people so the Club can be alerted when someone gets plastered? I can understand it if it happened within the club, but it doesn't sound like it was even in the park, though it was on Disney property (the espanade?).
Yes, apparently he was stopped on the Esplanade. And:

"Jonathan E. Phillips, an attorney representing Disney, said that Club 33 membership guidelines forbid public intoxication."

I can easily believe that that rule applies anywhere on Disney property. They wouldn't want Club 33 to get a reputation of having members stagger out into the parks afterwards.

As for how the security guards knew the guy was a Club 33 member, given the tone of the Andersons' comments as reported in the article, I wouldn't be surprised if he bragged about his membership to them.

The best part about that article is the constant responses to comments being made by "soldout21" who is either one of the two Andersons or a very close friend (the poster keeps switching from the third person to the first person in their responses). It's quite entertaining.
Ah, I hadn't read the comments until you mentioned that. Yep, good catch: "soldout21" (whose LA Times comment account was just created today) is indeed Scott Anderson.

"I am Scott Anderson and my Story, the real one, will be out in book form since the courts feel a jury would be so prejudiced by real events that they were not allowed to be told which was sexual assault. That’s why the comments below are wrong. We were targeted to shut up or get out. Also none of the reports showed any smell of alcohol! They will be presented as well. Years after Disney started talking to the security personal during depositions suddenly their memory cleared and there was a smell of alcohol. That’s are point. No bartender statements we reported. Last man standing that spoke with me upon leaving wasn’t questioned. There is a tone to the story including 40k pages of black ops style docs you can’t read the real account of. Just Disney being Disney. It’s all coming."

(BTW, that's actually the most coherent of his postings. Some of them are truly unintelligible.)

When you can spend 30k for basically nothing for club 33 then I don't your going to get to much

No the funny part is that people pay 30k per year for basically nothing.
idk if I agree with that assessment... We are DVC and I could imagine selling our DVC to make Club 33 membership work if it made sense for us - but we go to the parks 12 times a year at least, maybe more. To have peace and quiet in the parks and a good meal, etc. I could be persuaded that is more valuable perhaps....

He said the lawsuit has cost him about $400,000.

“My retirement is set back five years,” he said. “I’m paying through the nose. Every day, I’m seeing another bill, and I’m about to keel over.” He said he will appeal.
Curious how the math would work for a couple spending that much on Club 33 membership could be 5 years off of retirement with that kind of withdrawal....

If, and I say IF, there was really an issue of a sexual assault and the Andersons didn't get the reaction they wanted from C33 management, why didn't they go to the police? If I was sexually assaulted and TPTB didn't take me seriously that's certainly what I'd do.

Mr Anderson's comments on the article sound like the Esplanade isn't the only place he appears in a 'state of intoxication'.

Sounds like people just wanting their 15 minutes of fame(or in this case notoriety).
Definitely sounds like they have more money than sense. it’s people like this with their nuisance lawsuits than waste the courts time.

Most people would be ecstatic to have even dined ONCE at Club 33. I would like to think that those who belong have more going on in their lives than to make it the center of their world, as these folks apparently did.

And yes…wouldn’t you expect more out of a reputable newspaper?

These folks appear to be among those who are ENTITLED to be at the park and would probably be demanding this and that at the park…we’ve all seen them there. Ever run across the Evil Queen out and about in the park? She has a very haughty demeanor. I imagine these folks about the same.

And this guy thinks everyone is going to rush out to read his book…hahaha. Clearly he has no idea of what it takes to get a book deal. Course he’ll probably self publish, spending even more money trying to prove he’s right.

This world just keeps getting crazier by the day…. :rotfl2:

ADDED: oh gosh, just read through all the comments…BEST ENTERTAINMENT I’ve had all week! 😂🤣. These Andersons are too much, especially when he starts rambling about Disney black ops….

The Hollywood Reporter has posted an interview with the Andersons. They're a lot more subdued in this article. BTW, they were Platinum members, so they had access to the 1901 Lounge at DCA as well as Club 33. (The article says that Mr. Anderson was on a bench outside 1901 when he was found apparently drunk by a security person.)

From the article
And so the Andersons have no more Donald Ducks to give. At least that appeared to be the case when they joined The Hollywood Reporterfor a conversation about the secrets of Club 33. “The worst part with Club 33 is, conservatively, 80 percent of all members are selling access,” claims Diana of a practice that is prohibited by the club bylaws. “And they’re selling all the merchandise online. They’re making cottage industries off this place.” Explains Scott: “A lot of it is to pay their dues. The dues today are $32,000, which is just insane.”

A Club 33 member selling access...

Somebody’s gonna get in trouble…
Diana Anderson claimed that 80% of members are doing that. I can't imagine Disney letting that happen. It seems like they would have people watching eBay to swat down such listings. And try to determine the identity of the people making the listings so Disney can cancel their membership.

For $1000, who would want to bid on it?! One person?
Well, the listing says they're selling access for two people, so I can definitely see someone thinking it's worth $500 person. Heck, I'd be tempted to do that myself if it weren't against Disney's policies.

Ooh, yeah that’s a good deal. I’d be tempted myself…. Looks like the person also lets you be part of the VIP tour too?!

I would think, that just like OBB and ofher special event tickets, Disney has a group devoted to this type of investigation and you, the bidder, would be liable to lose your investment. I can see someone doing this discreetly among their community but eBay??? That’s a big risk. I do have it on my watchlist, though, just to see what happens… :rotfl2:
