I will be trying Ariel's Grotto for the first time later this month. It will be me, my mother and my best friend. I was hoping to be able to split something with one of them. Do they allow splitting and if so, is there a splitting charge?

Some of the restaurants at DLR charge for splitting a meal, but they plate it for you already split up and add a few bits of extra garnish. I think that $4.99 was the plate splitting going rate at last check. Since this is a buffet restaurant there is no splitting, so the answer to your question is no.

If it is plated food, it doesn't mention that. Allearsnet says that it is a buffet, so therefore no sharing. Just ask the Disney dining rep that scheduled your ressie. They can help you.

I dont think you can share. Because the cost is not only for the meal, but also includes the characters, I believe every over the age of 3 has to pay.

We went to Ariel's Grotto on our last trip -- it isn't a buffet style restaurant. You order off a menu -- you get to choose a drink, starter, main, and dessert. There are a few selections for each course. There is a set price for adults and a set price for kids. It is pricey -- but you are definately paying for the character interaction. Some reviews lately of Ariel's have been so-so, but when we went -- my girls absolutely loved it and got photos and autographs from Snow White, Mulan, Belle, Ariel, Fairy Godmother, and a prince. They rotate the princesses. Anyways, my 3 girlies (ages 6,3, and 6 months) had fun!

You are correct, it is not a buffet. You do order entrees off the menu.

Though I should add the menu is not huge. I went with my boyfriend in October (because I love the little mermaid :)) and we were definitly the only adults there (21 and 26). There are lots of children and lots of people taking pictures. Might I add this old creepy guy came in the was taking pictures of himself kissing all the pirncesses! Weird!
