Long time lurker, finally decided to join you guys. Maybe you can help me out.

I'm taking my sister(9) and nephew(10) to DL in March, we want to do a Character Meal. Both me and my sister are leaning towards Ariel's because she's our favorite character. Do you think my nephew would feel embarrassed to go to a Princess Character Meal? Would he feel left out? What do you suggest?

I bet he would get lots of attention from the pretty princesses. I know that the princesses loved seeing my 3 year old boy who (almost) patiently waited over an hour for the Princess Fantasy Faire b/c he wanted to see the princesses.

Now, at 10, that's tricky for a boy. I have 3 younger brothers, and 2 of them would have DIED to be around gorgeous young (but older) women all hugging and kissing on him. They were a bit too "manly" for that to be comfortable for them. The other brother was a bit "younger" at that age, and he probably would have been able to see it as a child and have fun with it.

So it's up to your nephew, really, how he feels about it. He might like big kiss marks on his cheek, or that might mortify him.

You might consider just meeting Ariel at her non-restaurant meet and greet place (which I think is in DL), and go to a more boy/girl friendly character meal, if it might be too embarrassing or girly for him.

But besides having a 3 year old who still loves princesses (but was afraid they would kiss him) and having 3 younger brothers, what do I know? I've never been there! :)

Do they know they are going with you? Or is it a surprise? If they know, just ask your nephew. My nephew 5 LOVED meeting the princesses, but he liked the pooh characters best (and power rangers at WDW). 10 yo is a tough age, it really could go either way IMO. If you can't ask him, I think I would lean toward booking a meal that is less gender specific, then telling them both that each get to do something special, princess fantasy faire for her and I think there's a pirate thing on TS island for him.

Alright thanks, I will ask him what he thinks and go on from there. Most likely he'll be fine with all the pretty girls around him, he wanted to go to Hannah Montana's concert to "get her phone number" :lmao: but I will check first. Thanks for the advice.

Also, if it makes a difference, if you meet Ariel at the shell in DL, she will be in mermaid form. If you see her at Ariel's Grotto and PFF(I think) she is in human form in a ball gown.

I went with my sister (9) and my brother (8). Every time a princess came to our table he stuck his head in his shirt. They made a big deal about the headless boy at our table :lmao:
