Mary spoke with CBS about the painful memories that came from hearing Brad's final phone call again and her authorized use of the audio:
When I arrived home I found Brad's message on our phone, and, of course, these were his last words in my view, because we never heard from him again. My first thought was, isn't anything sacred anymore? I used it in situations where I wanted to convey Brad's story. None of those situations were used for promotional or professional or commercial endeavors.
Sooooo?
That is an American movie about Americans. And those are American families.
Oooooooooookay. This post just pointed the thread on a fast track to crazy town. I'm sorry but the Daily Mail is equivalent to the National Enquirer so I equate its usefulness with toilet paper. I am not familiar with the second site referenced so I will withhold my opinion on whether or not it is reputable.
I have to ask also. What does this have to do with the original topic or any offshoots of the original topic?
This is currently being reported in the local NYC news here. What people elsewhere may not understand is, that the families aren't "attacking" the film, as the Daily Mail used the word. But, the families and survivors of the victims of 9/11 are in the news here almost
every other day. And yes, there are some families who are
always plenty outraged about
something having to do with 9/11 or how it's been handled.
Anger is one of the 5 Stages of Grief. These families don't even have any body remains in which to have buried their loved ones, no private graves to go to mourn
at or get to be angry
at.
no ONE place they can let it all out. So they get angry about EVERYTHING they can. (It's quite understandable, to those who understand the process.) They have been angry since Day 1 about how and what kind of memorial there will/should be at the WTC site, how long it's taking, how the names will be listed, they are angry at the mayor, the architect, the Memorial committee, and on and on.
The producers of the film have donated a portion of the profits of the movie to The National September 11 Memorial & Museum, which angered many families as they wanted the donations made their own chosen 9/11 charities. Can people start to see the anger pattern here?
This certainly isn't a Hollywood thing, other than that they should have asked for permission for use, isn't a British thing,

or even an American thing. It is individual families having nowhere to grieve. And this has nothing to do with the original topic.
I remember getting into a debate long ago with the OP about the Death Penalty laws here in the U.S. And she went on & on, bashing the U.S., saying how the British laws were so much better.
Sounds like this thread isn't really about the Americans bashing the Brits. But one British poster bashing the U.S.
