As everyone probably already know it was put on both virgin atlantic and virgin holidays websites last night around 8pm that all the flights for today were cancelled and i'm having a 'mare!
Phoned virgin at 8am, onhold for half an hour. Didn't get through, gave up till nine. Phoned dead on 9 got through to someone, (think she might have been in india), didn't know her *** from her elbow, said they had heard nothing at virgin holidays, gave me a number for virgin atlantic and told me to phone them. Phoned virgin atlantic, on hold for half an hour, spoke to a man who confirmed everything was cancelled, and told me to re-phone virgin holidays to re book/re schedule. Tried phoning and put on hold. Gave up and decided to phone travel agent instead (incase they have direct lines). Travel agent took my no and said would phone me back. Travel agent phones me back 5 mins later and confirms that everything is ok and i can still fly??? What the *@:~? I explain to travel agent that the flights are cancelled. She puts on manager who confirms flights are not cancelled. I am now awaiting another phonecall from travel agent, to let me know what on earth is going on???

OMG:eek:

What happened to you? Let me know?:earseek:

Was there a flight or not:confused:

well, what a morning!

Travel agent didn't phone back so an hour later i phoned them. They were still on hold. An hour after that they phoned, to let me know they were still on hold and would contact me asap. So, i was getting fidgity at home so i went into town, the poor girl at the travel agent was sat there serving people while she was still on hold to virgin holidays.

Anyway, the travel agent ended up being on hold for 3 and a half hours can you believe. They were offering from the 13th onwards, but the travel agent had phoned a friend that works for virgin atlantic and knew they were putting on extra flights, so she persevered for us and got us on tomorrows flight.

Hurray! You got on a flight! Have a fantastic time at AKL!

We too, thought that everything would have calmed down again by the time we departed on the 15th. - Looks like we'll just have to wait and see what Ivan decides to do.

I read this notice on one of the Orlando websites:

"Although the tourist areas of Orlando will probably be back to normal by Tuesday or Wednesday, please be sensitive to the serious damage in surrounding communities from Hurricane Charley, which in some cases was made worse by Hurricane Frances. Unfortunately, many of Disney's Cast Members have lost homes and other property".

Despite this, you can bet that the CMs will all be putting on a happy face for the tourists. I really hope things get better for them soon
Steve.

Korbs,

Although I have never had anything so bad happen to me, I did unfortunately travel with Virgin to Orlando in 2000.

Please make sure you check the return journey details a day or so before your return flight.

Have a good holiday.

Regards,

Rannoch

So glad to hear you got your flight rearranged - but it's unbelievable that the TA and Virgin were telling you the original flight would be fine!

Have a great trip :Pinkbounc

We just got back today (originally due to fly back last friday)

Just wanted to say that despite a lot of general confusion/chaos and mix up with flight timings etc etc in my opinion Virgin did a great job in trying to get everyone out yesterday.

There made available SEVEN Virgin Jumbos at Orlando last night and staff had a difficult time trying to cope with 4500 passengers all trying to check in it seemed at the same time !!

Whilst it was not the best flight I have been on and had obviously been put together in a hurry we were thankful that they made the effort they did (including keeping our flight until all passngers had checked in and boarded) and we were able to get out.

Hopefully i still have a job to go back to tomorrow !

Welcome back Red Snapper::yes::

Korbs I'm so glad to hear you got off at last:tongue:

Alls well that ends well!

Got here in the end, greetings to all from disneyquest. Having a fab time and making notes for my first attempt at atrip report when we get back.

However, my itinery has gone out the window cause we lost a day which i was trying to make up for, and now i'm trying to fast forward a day and cram everything in, incase we lose aa few days due to Ivan.

Oh, and did the illuminations cruise for my birthday on the 10th, it was great!

See y'all
