My new car of 3 weeks was hit. my son was driving, I was teh passenger. he was taking a left, we the idot behind us thought he could take the left and get there faster then me. well he rear ended me. althought it isn't tons of damage the fact is it's brand new. he had a 14 yr old volvo and was rubbing it like his car was totaled, damn, now I am svcared to drive it:D

Sorry Gail. These stupid things seem to happen to me all the time! Don't be afraid to drive though.

I can understand your fear of driving, I was hit in the rear by a semi 4 years ago and I still have a fear when I am sitting at intersections. I am glad that you are both ok. I know what you mean, the car will just never be the same...:( :(

Oh, sorry, Gail. I hate owning new cars, because the letdown of the first time they are damaged (which is inevitable, even if they aren't involved in an accident!) is just so overwhelming.

Sorry that your new car was hit, but glad that you and your son are o.k.!

I know the feeling. My fan was less the 3 months old and a new driver pulled out in front of me, she had a stop sign and I didn't. My van has been in the shop all week and I am hoping to get it back tomorrow, I really don't care for the rental van I have. I try to focus on the fact that no one was hurt...there were 4 in her car and 3 in mine (my DDs), it was raining so I was going slower than the speed limit. Had I been going the speed limit the driver may have been injured. Now am take extra caution around intersections and am always wondering if the person is going to pull out on me.

I have '92 Ford Taurus that I swear has a bulls-eye painted all over it that only other drivers can see. And it moves as I drive -- front, side, back -- wherever there's a nimrod looking for a car to hit! I've given up on repairs -- it's not worth it anymore.

But a new car -- DANG! That's just not right! Volvos are tough -- they are built like tanks to begin with. I'm surprised the other guy's car had any damage at all.

My next car is going to be a suburban assault vehicle or better yet an Abrams Tank!

I am so sorry. :( Does it still have that new car smell, though? ;)

His car had no damage, just a little white paint from my car. I hardly drive it anymore, I sit home more then ever, afraid to take it out

Give it time, Gail. You'll get over it. Start by justing sitting in the driver's seat, then take some short trips around your neighborhood, just to get the feel of driving again. Gradually increase your range.

Don't let this experience bind you to your house. There's too much to enjoy out there!

I feel the same. I got a new car it's almost 2 weeks old and everytime I sit at a red light or make a left I'm a nervous wreck.

We bought a brand new Kia Sedona last July and took it to a University of Oregon basketball game in December and it got backed into by someone backing out of a parking spot while we were sitting in a loooooong line of traffic. I mean there must have been 20 cars in front of us and 20 cars behind us. What did the guy think, that there was a magical spot open just for him in a line of 40+ cars? Grrrrrr....it is maddening, but we drive it just fine now. ;)

I'm sorry Gail, that sucks. :(

But get out there and drive girl. :)
