The party tickets is how I stretch my WDW park days. With only being able to get a 10 day park ticket and staying 14 nights it definately helps to get a bit more time without too much cost.

Not sure how old your son is but we take the day off and rest as much as possible. Nap before going to the party.

We also added in a few non park days so we could swim at the resort and shop at DTD. That gave us a break from the long hours at the park.

If you are planning to go back within a year...it might be worth it to get AP's.

That is what we we do and we are Canadian too. That being said, with the price hikes it might not be "worth it" depending on when you bought your tickets.

....days are long gone, by trip time, our kids will be 11, 13 and almost 9.
But the scheduling shopping time at downtown Disney is a great idea we always find it hard to shoe horn that in. A non park day before the MHP is an idea I am liking more and more .

Never say never but likely not. I think the next trip will likely be Europe in the summer or back to Florida.
