Spoke with Disneyland today. I want to add an extra day to our 8 day hoppers. Can't do it, you can add day six, day seven and day eight but that is it. I am willing to come and spend money and I cannot do it. This so frustrating, any one have any ideas? We have not bought the eight day hoppers yet so I can change things up. We are Canadian too if that helps.:confused3:confused3:(

Why not step up to the AP...just for the discount alone if you are going to be there that long????

Shauna, I believe I have heard of people going to the gate and getting more days--but they might have been Aussies, who can get 14-day PH from their Flight Centres already. I'm not sure I've heard of a Canuck getting more than eight days.
It's so frustrating! I am in a similar circumstance, mainly because I don't so much need more *days* as we need a bit more *time* to use up the days. We want to start and end a big, 2.5 week SoCal vacay at DLR, but the PH are only good for 14 days. So we were told to buy two sets of 4-day PH--but for two adults and two kids, it was $898 total for the 8-day PH and $844 for *each set* of 4-day PH! So we would have to spend $1700 for two sets of PH so we are not bound by the 14-day rule for our 17-day vacation. Which would make APs far more attractive an option. But considering we're also spending like $250 for MHP tickets, I really don't want to spend that much more for the regular days in the park.

BJD, I am assuming that Shauna is getting 8-day PH from Canadian Flight Centre, where they sell adult tickets for $234. So even before the price hike, the upgrade you mention is more than $100 per person. So, you would have to spend more than $1000 per person in the parks to make the AP 10% discount "worth it." If Shauna is staying at a DLR hotel, that's possible, but otherwise, probably not. But I suppose buying the APs is ~better than buying a bunch one-day PH so she can go one more day! ;)

You may have hit on the solution here. Don't MHP tickets get you into the park at 2:00 or 3:00? If the OP was planning on doing a MHP anyway, she could just use the MHP tickets on the off-day, and perhaps spend time in DTD or a hotel character meal in the morning, saving the park hoppers for the other 8 days.

I had thought of MHP, but I thought I still needed a hopper ticket to get into
MHP?
If we use MHP tickets does that get us into DLR and CA or just DLR?

not a bad idea bakerudall, I had dismissed it as not feasabile until you typed it out! Thanks for clearing the waters;)....can anyone can confirm what time you get in for MHP, and can I forgo my hopper tickets that day?

I don't think passes are viable, as it is too steep a price hike to make up the loss.

Mickey's Halloween Party is a special ticketed event. You need the MHP special ticket to attend. You do not need that ticket AND admission, it IS your admission. However, it only let's you in to the Park after a certain hour (not sure what that is for this year).

I did not mention this as an idea because your OP wasn't clear on being there for Halloween season.
Yes, as Disney Dreams said, the MHP ticket is a bona fide ticket to Disney Land, beginning for three hours before the party's official start. So, if the party starts at 6pm, you could enter DL at 3pm and have some ride fun before the party (trick or treat, villain meet & greet, fireworks, etc.) starts up. You would not need to use a day on your PH to get in.
My family is planning to go to the beach in the morning, lunch and rest up, get into costumes and head over for the party! So, it could be seen as a way to get a ninth "day" (half day) that is more interesting than just buying an additional 1-day ticket. Besides, if your stay overlaps with party days, you will either need to buy MHP tickets to stay in DL, or head over to DCA with everyone else who is not attending the party once the party kicks off.
The above assumes that there are no big changes to the MHPs from last year, although we've been having fun speculating in the H'ween Super Thread about what they *could* change this year with all the new DCA goings on. We hope to know more in the next couple of weeks about the MHPs for 2012. :)
GL!

...now that I have a tangible solution. I would think we should hit a few MHP parties we are there September 28 last day October 6. ( ticker says just over four months to go...:cool1::cool1:)
We had intended to do MHP but I have never been so I was uncertain as to how it worked.

K last question if we did MHP Would we be limited to character breakfasts in the hotels ? Can you get in the park for breakfast if you do not have a hopper for that day, guess it would just be MHP tickets.
Are there any character meals outside of breakfast?

Thanks everyone, the sun just came out.:beach::beach:

Sorry did not really notice the OP was from Canada..

no sorry....you have to have a valid ticket or AP to get into the park for anything except shopping for half hour or so....Goofy's Kitchen is the only one that does dinner character meal at the hotels though:goodvibes

Just to clarify, Goofy's is the only character lunch in the hotels--all three hotels have character breakfasts.popcorn::

You'll want to be inside the party at dinner time.

If you are considering some character breakfasts, like Surf's Up at PPH or the Storyteller's at GCH, the morning of your MHP day would be a great day to go! I have been going back and forth on the prob of doing char breakfasts that occur during prime morning hours. ("Prime" both because lower crowds and because my littlest guys would be at their best in those hours before tiring.) But now your mention has given me the idea that we can still have Disney magic the morning of our MHP day without going to the park *and* get in a char breakfast without losing valuable park time. (I *refuse* to use a PH day and an MHP ticket the same day, as I would feel double charged.)
So, thanks. :thumbsup2

Goofy's doesn't have a separate character lunch. Their 2 meals are listed as brunch (a combination of breakfast and lunch foods), and dinner.

Brunch is brilliant...we can sleep in head over lunch , would have to be Goofys...swim then he'd to MHP. Not getting that ninth day may be a god send I never conspired that using my hoppers on party day would be akin to a double payment. This may work out well after all.:wave2::)
