I booked our vacation through the Walt Disney Travel Company back in March. Well, I have a different last name than my fiance and our girls (been together for 9 years, just haven't gotten married yet). Today I got our package in the mail and was looking over it and saw that they had my last name as Dustin's and the girls' I called the company to tell them of the error and they said, 'No matter 'who's' mistake it was, I would still have to buy a NEW TICKET' :sad2: I can't believe I had to buy a whole new ticket just for a name change, $125 gone, just like that!

Anyone heard or know a way to get around having to pay for a new ticket? I'm so irritated about it.

Why can't you just use the ticket as is? Will they be asking for ID?? Please clarify... I'm confused :confused3 ....................P

Although married I kept my maiden name and was a little confused about the post as well and wondered why you couldn't just use the ticket as is. HOWEVER, I thought it through and guessing that we're talking about an airline ticket that WOULD require photo id when traveling!

I have NO experience with this so my post will not be helpful, just clarifying!

Ooops sorry. Yes, I was talking airline ticket  You have to have proper ID in order to board the plane, as mom2joce said. It's so frustrating

I also kept my maiden name and when we received our DL package from WDTC, it had both our names correct. I would recommend calling back and asking to speak to a supervisor since it was their mistake.

First of all, can you prove that you gave WDTC the correct name? That's a key point, because otherwise it's your word against theirs. Call them back, ask to speak to a supervisor and explain that one of their agents made an error with the ticketing and that it needs to be corrected. If they say that you'll have to pay, remind them that THEIR agent made the error. If you have proof of this (ie emails etc) then bring it up at that point.

It's quite true that you'll need to have a new ticket made - airlines don't allow name changes on tickets any more. However you shouldn't have to pay for that when it's their mistake.

Definitely call back and talk to a supervisor.

Airline tickets must be in the name of the traveller, and no changes are allowed. A new ticket must be issued.

In this case, it sounds like the travel agent made the error, not the OP. As noted, call and ask for a supervisor - it was their error and they need to fix it.

Hi :wave2:

You said you booked your package in March, I'm sure they sent you a few confirmations. Your names are on that, at the bottom of the confirmation, as well as all invoices, it says to look over to see if all is correct then to call back with any corrections. Or something similar to that. Also on the back are all the terms and conditions.
And the fee is a contracted fee through the airline and WDTC.

Sooz :flower:

I would call the airlines and ask. My sister has taken her husbands last name but she worked for a long time in a field where name recognition counts so she uses her madien name at work still. I know she ran into this and was able to use the ticket. I think she had a photo ID from work with her madien name and her DL with her married name and had to show both. I also know that when I got married and changed my last name I didn't need to show anything to get my new last name on my DL, that was a long time ago but might be worth asking (I'm getting married, what do I need to do to get a new DL with my married name on it?).
I hate to lose money like that, so if it were me I think I would get married in time to use the ticket before I would pay $125.

All taken care of! Dustin called this morning and they told him they already credited the account and are sending out another ticket with the correct name. So far no charges have been put on the card. Not sure why the change from yesterday to today? :confused3

No need to rush out to get married, after being together for 9 years, we are totally committed to each other and live as we are married, we don't need a paper that says so ;)
