I own a bright yellow Monte Carlo, and I love my car. I baby it, park it at the end of lots, in big spots or next to new cars only. It had only one small door ding that I got in a packed parking lot at Christmas this year…. Not happy, but it’s semi-small, and not that noticeable if you don’t obsess.

All that until yesterday – the red vehicle that parked next to me at work (darned if the only thing I can remember is that is was red, and a small SUV of some sort), hit my bumper and took a nice size chunk out of the paint job and plastic. Hey – accidents happen….. I understand. What I don’t understand, is why you would drive away like it doesn’t matter that you just caused somewhere between $1500 and $2000 damage to my car without even leaving a note!!! :furious: :furious: :furious: And wouldn’t you know (surprise, surprise) that very same car is not parked in our section of the parking lot today – even though it’s there every other day.

I guess my lunch will be spent carousing the remote lots….. good thing it’s a nice day, so they could park and walk without getting wet today…. Lucky them.

I hope you find who hit the car! What year is your Monte?

I had a bright RED Monte (2001). It was awesome! I always parked it out in the middle of nowhere because those doors were HUGE! Hard to open when someone parks really close to you. What used to bug me was when I'd park that far out, with all the empty spaces, and someone would still park next to me. I miss the Monte so much but with a DD and another on the way I was having a hard time figuring out how to get them into the back of a 2 door sports car.

Can you check with your HR or the building owner, maybe they can find out who the car belongs to. At my company, we own the whole building and all cars have to have a sticker to park here, and the stickers have a serial number. HR keeps your car on file, they have the license plate #, make, model, year and color of your car. They can cross referance it and if someone needs to figure out who owns a car parked there, they can!

I feel your pain. Everyone in my family is used to parking in end spots (no matter how far they are from where we're going) so as not to sustain parking lot damage to our vehicles.

Back in 1997, DH and I went to the movies and caught a matinee. When we came out, I noticed that the person parked in front of us looked awfully close to our vehicle. When we went around the front, we saw the Volvo wagon was BURIED in the bumper/grille of our Camaro. I was livid! We called mall security who then called the Sheriff's Office. The deputy was talking to us when the owners of the Volvo came up to see what the fuss was (their movie had just ended). They then tried to convince the Deputy that WE had run into the front of THEIR car! I couldn't believe it. I then pointed out that their car was almost a foot over the line, which they said we could have done. I then told the Deputy to ask them what movie they went to. He did, and I pointed out that our movie started before theirs. After the Deputy checked out our ticket stubs, he wrote a ticket to the other driver.

I now only park in spaces with a median/lightpole/obstruction in front of our car.

I think that your experience is just another example of people not taking responsibity for their actions.

I wonder if they already took their car to a body shop? They might have dropped it off first thing this morning. Good luck finding them!
