ARGGG Delta changed my flight price mid booking!

I finally located the flight we wanted, found the price that would work for us and was in the process of booking on the delta website when the price went up!! It quoted $283 per seat and by the time I had everyones seat assigned and their names listed, i put in my card number and got a message back that the price had now increased to $344

I did manage to get a delta booking agent on the phone and she found a flight that only arrives 1 hour later than we wanted and leaves 1 hour earlier than we wanted for the starting price of $283. so I booked.

I know it's been a year since I flew last but please these airlines are out of control!! Anyone else ever have this problem??

Ok end of vent, I did get a decent flight at the price we started with so all's well and all that, besides, the tickets are non refundable and now our trip is a go for sure ( no way is everyone losing 1700.00 in tickets)

Someone else was booking at the same time you were and he grabbed the last $283. seat leaving you with only $344. seats.

Note that fi you are booking several seats and there weren't quite enough at a lower fare, you are quoted the next higher fare for all of them.

What was your final price you got over the phone? Earlier on line were you orignally quoted $283. before taxes? Then after you punched in your information, it gave you the final total including taxes of $344?

When you sit down in front of a local travel agent (or book by phone) the agent usually does a step called "claiming the seats" so someone else booking at the same time can't pull the seats out from under you (from under the travel agent).

This way, after the agent punches in all the information including your children's names, he announces to you the final price that is the same as first quoted.

If you don't complete the booking, for example you are accidentally disconnected, the agent "releases the seats".

Now if another agent claimed the lower priced seats in behalf of another party first, then your agent will quote a higher seat price to you up front.
