I don't know how people do it. Carry-on only, getting a whole fam in 1 suitcase. I am an admitted over packer. I would LOVE to consolidate, but how? We (me and DD6) are going US/IOA for 8 days and I have "park clothes", some of which I plan to wash & wear a second time, but then I have "after park clothes" for dinner and whatever else we decide to do since the parks close at 6 PM. Right now I have a medium size suitcase with clothes & shoes and then a smaller suitcase with flip flops, bathing suits, toiletries, sunscreen & bug spray, ponchos. I'm not a high maitenance chick. I don't do make-up at the parks or even at night other than mascara, a little blush & gloss, I don't take my own hair dryer, but as I sit and stare at all my CRAP, I can't find anything to leave out.

Thx. Just needed to vent.

Our family of four packs two large hard-sided suitcases plus, each person has a backpack for the plane. I book direct flights so our luggage (hopefully) doesn't get lost enroute.

I do plan on doing laundry halfway through the trip (so pack for roughly half the days). For WDW, I don't pack dressy clothes. There's nowhere I go at WDW that requires fancier clothes.

Now, for a cruise where there's no public laundry service, I pack the two suitcases and an extra-large rolling duffle. I also purchase plenty of extra underwear and we rewear clothes based on levels of cleanliness. We have a 12-night cruise booked for next spring and I don't even want to think about the headache of packing for that trip!

We travel a lot and DD is a great traveler (she knows the whole drill) and really, our trips are never short enough to even consider carrying on; I'm always just amazed that people can actually do it.

Fortunately, we have a direct flight this time and I've been there done that with lost luggage. Its sucks bigtime, but thankfully it was on the trip back home. Still a pain to wait 2 days for all your stuff :(

I'm not really packing "dressy" for nights at US/IOA, just a clean set to change into after a day of sweating at the parks in the August heat. I don't mind doing laundry while I'm there, but it's still hard for me to cut down.

I have never done a cruise, but I can't imagine trying to pack for formal evenings, etc. SCARY :scared1:

I'm an over-packer too. I like to have choices on what I wear and choices for the kids too! Sometimes I'm not in the mood for certain colors or styles. Nutty but true. :upsidedow All those choices are heavy. I have been trying to lean more towards paring down with mix and matching stuff. It helps some. But it's hard!

yeah...this is what I looked like on our road trip to the beach in July. who knew you really could load down an Expedition...and it was only 3 of us!

My husband is a huge overpacker. Realistically, he knows he usually wears only half what he takes, yet he still overpacks. I don't love packing...but when I'm packing it means I'm going somewhere. :cheer2:
