Any news on when Disneyland will get a new parade? How about Disneyworld?

Iger gets paid over 51 million last year and yet Disney can't afford a new parade. :confused3

Celebrate! A Street Party just opened last month. WDW has something similar too.

It's not a traditional parade, but POD hasn't been gone that long.

The celebrate street party is the new parade and it's not much of a worthy sucessor to the previous parade IMHO.

The Pixar Parade was new to DCA last spring. I know they had one similar in the years past (Block Party Parade) but this one was a lot different. In fact in March 08 some of the men dressed as chefs for the Ratatouille piece were on tall 6 foot stilts and one of the men fell on my sister and another couple.(No one was hurt but the guy and his pride, Disney gave my sister and the other couple a coupon or something for the store) We went a couple weeks later and none of the men were on tall stilts just the bouncy ones!

A new (real) parade will most likely be rolled out next year for DL's 55th birthday. :)

Truth be told, I've heard that Celebrate! A Street Party will be our 55th Anniversary parade presentation, with minor changes to reflect the new theme.

Apparently there was a new parade planned for the 55th, but the economic downturn, combined with the recent reorganization activities within Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, have caused the plans to be shelved.

Mind you, this is complete heresay at this point. Who knows what will happen, lol.

^ Hi Diznygrl! :wave1:

I think the Celebrate Street Party is great for the kids. I have seen it a few times now with different people and the kids really get into it. The cool thing about it from a schedule viewpoint i you know when it will be where so you dont need to "camp out" the entire time.

They've changed a few floats in the Christmas parade, but i don't think it will ever completely change, at least not for a while.

Celebrate wasn't bad. I mean, not Parade of Dreams, but to expect it to be is not fair, really.

It's more about getting people to have a good time over "look what fancy things we can do".

I'm seeing it again with my goddaughter on friday, and I know she'll enjoy it. Sure, it's not the spectacle PoD was, but like i said, it's not the same intention, and it would be unfair just to grade it on the same terms.

and i had a funny thought as i was leaving the park for the say. I thought, "It's kind of a parade for a bad economy." yeah, it's smaller in scale, but it's fun enough. but do NOT ask me to dance. not happening.

Thanks for the info.

Personally, I hope they scrap the Celebrate Parade after this year. It looks like the 80's puked on Main Street. It's a one note song! Very non-Disney, all pop songs, all the same volume. Really cheaply done. I think "economical" can be classy and heart felt. OK....that was my vent. I don't very often blatantly criticize Disney, but DH and I couldn't even sit through the whole thing. We left to take advantage of the shorter lines.

On the other hand, I really like the Pixar one!! I had to end my vent on a positive note! LOL!

I think I am in the minority when it comes to the Celebrate parade. I really liked it, it was high energy with lots of things going on. I think the interactivity was great too. It is no Parade of Dreams but I am happy with this new experience after one viewing. Of course it could have been due to it being my birthday yesterday when it saw it, so I got into that part of the celebrating. I also love the new park theme song and how it is incorporated into the parade/street party.

That said, I would love to see Parade of Dreams back and have them run both shows. :-)

I dont mean to be disrespectful to people who really enjoy the new Celebrate parade, this is my own opinion... I saw it on Youtube and to be honest I was seriously embarassed to watch this in the privacy of my own home. I will 100% Be skipping this parade when I go on my trip in a few weeks. You couldnt get me to see that thing if I were kicking and screaming. I agree its like a horrible 80's throwback nightmare. The floats looks so high that you can barely see characters wiggling on top (This being from an adults height) and the decor is a mess. Characters dont even go with any theme of the floats. The music and entertainment is cheap that it looks like they took a week to prepare. I am so disappointed.

Even on a recent head office article update page, they said that the Celebrate parade is getting such horrid reviews that they are being forced to basically referbish the Parade of dreams floats, and on days where there are 2 parades have one being the POD and the other Celebrate. This I hope they do. I already miss the POD.

I will see it one time later when I have finished seeing all the stuff I want to see. Bottom of my list of things to do. I am different in that I would watch this 100 times if each time you had me a nice gluten and soy free dinner with some popcorn to go and a gluten free cupcake and of course I would need some new bauble to keep my mind active. Otherwise once is enough for me if I ever get to once.:rotfl:

Respectfully, I don't understand how you can be so disappointed when you have yet to see it in person. Things don't always come across the same on an amateur internet video as they do in person. The kids REALLY get into the Street Party and their excitement becomes infectious, imo. I have seen it several times and think I would hate watching it on youtube. Skip it, see it, whatever you like when you are there, but I just think to judge it from an online video is not giving you a good feel for it at all.

Btw, you can completely see the characters - and the kids get SOOOO excited about that part! The music gets the crowd involved, and the dancers are very high energy for a solid 10 minutes. I don't think any of that comes across well over the 'net.
