Are you the black sheep disney-a-holic?

Are you the Disney Blacksheep?

  • Yes. No one I know understands.

  • Nope. We're just one big happy Disney-loving family.

After reading numerous trip reports, and talking with (and about) my family I've come to the conclusion that my wife and I are the only ones (besides all of you) that are nuts about WDW.

That got me to wondering if we were alone. Are there extended families out there who all are fans of the mouse. Or are there lots and lots of people who don't get what we're so excited about?

Are you a black sheep amongst you're friends in family awash in a sea of non-believers?

I would say that we are in the minority here. Even our friends and family who have been there don't understand why we spend so much money going there several times a year. We have been AP holders for three years now, and that just gives us more reasons to visit! They think we are crazy, but we are having a great time and I say they don't know what they are missing! I can't wait until we can retire and move to Florida to be closer! We are Disney freaks and are loving it!

We ARE the black sheep for going to WDW for all our vacations.

We even tried to organize a family trip for this past thanksgiving. We started planning almost 2 years in advance to try and get the whole gang to come along. As we got nearer to the deadline date to book our rooms etc, everyone started to bail out on us. Then to top it all off...they all went to grandma's house for thanksgiving...making US look like the BLACK SHEEP for not attending their thanksgiving reunion.

Oh well...we took our best friends and their family and had a great time!!!!!

(By the way: we are going back again this summer!!!!)

I'm definately the only one that is this much of a fanatic in my family - but I blame my parents for starting this all!! When I was younger we lived in Brazil, and would stop by the World when we came to the States to visit my mom's family (in Michigan). Then we moved from Brazil to St Augustine (about 2 1/2 hrs from Orlando), and I got to be the "tour guide" when ever anyone came down to visit us, then went on to Disney.

My family does not understand at all how I can go to Disney each year (last year 2 x) or how I can go thru withdrawl if I don't go (doesn't look like it will happen this year :( )

My colleagues at work totally understand since a number of them like Disney as well

My extended family - they just do not understand this thing called Disney.....

thanks

My husband and family love to go to the world. The rest of the family thinks we are nuts.
DH does, however, think that the amount of time I spend planning the trip and on the boards is ridiculous. He is trying to think of a way to turn my obsession into a money making venture.

We are definitely the black sheep. My side of the family has never been to Disney and my husband's side (who live 45 minutes from Disney) cannot understand why we visit Disney.
Imagine --- living 45 minutes from Disney and NOT visiting the most happiest place on earth but once every 2-3 years!!!

B-a-a-a-a... Several Black Sheep here..

Typical conversation with my siblings... "So, where are you going on vacation this fall?" "We're going to Disney." "Again? Gee, you guys must like it down there"

Like it?! We Love Disney! It's Ok, I'm also the only one in my family who hugs.
One by one I hope to convert them all to my way of thinking!

Don't you want to go anywhere else??

Believe it or not, I could go other places if I chose to!

Haven't you done it all yet? What's left to do???

There are 47 square miles. I haven't touched it yet...

Why do you want to do the same thing each year?

Nobody asks skiers why they want to return to Vale each and every year.. same old mountain, same cold snow...

I don't mind. I'm obssessed!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Guess we're lucky as my extended family all got "hooked" when we first started going in '98 (still swear that Disney puts something in the water!). We have travelled in a variety of family combinations. This trip my family will join up with my sister and her kids for the first time. Quite fun being able to plan and get excited together!

Outside our family though, no one understands our addiction.

Several of our family members on both sides have been to WDW at least once but a lot of them don't get why we want to go again.
My inlaws have been there twice(once in the mid 70's and once early 90's) and both times stayed off site-they think we're nuts to spend the extra$ to stay onsite.
I guess you either 'get' the magic or you don't (we do!).

Most of our immediate family understands our love for Disney, but there are a few who think we are nuts. Oh well, they are the ones who are missing out IMHO.::yes::

:D

My family are Disney fans, but I'm the one true Disney fanatic. We went a few times as a family to WDW, but when I have a family of my own, I want to take them there every year. Thankfully, my girlfriend is a Disney fanatic, too.

I am the only Disney nut in my family, hubby just can't relate to the thrill I get while planning our Disney trip. I love Disney World and thanks to you guys I'm not alone!:earsboy:

Our family thinks we're nuts! DW works with another WDW fanatic. Their co-workers give them both a hard time.

Our first trip as a family was 1985, and our whole family has been hooked ever since. We've gone about 16 times. :earsboy:

 that's what everyone thinks of us

I can't really answer the poll. I am not a family. My mom gets it, she has an AP and goes with me whenever she can. She loves the Food & Wine festival. My dad doesn't get it, although he's terribly impressed with the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I think we can convert him. No one else cares. I have a number of friends who are jealous of my frequent WDW visits. One tries to join me once a year with her son. I also have a co-worker who sings the Mickey Mouse Club march at me whenever he gets the chance. He likes to vacation in France. I've been to France. I enjoy WDW at the moment.

My coworkers and family alway's wonder why I want to go to Disney each year. I just think although it might be on the expensive side when we choose to stay at the park, it does not compare to other places traveled. In everything Disney quality is the main theme and attention to detail is amazing.I have 2 children 6and 3, I feel that these years spent at disney with them will never be forgotten. I will continue to bring them as long as they want to go. Becuase someday they will want to choose other places or not be with thier parents at all on vacations! I know in my heart I will alway's want to make a trip down maybe not as often as I would like, but often enough for me.

I'm the only Disney fanatic in the family. My parents and brothers don't really get it, but they indulge me.

This year, my mom is going to go with me :Pinkbounc on a theme parks/cruise vacation. I'm hoping to make a convert!
