I tend to lean towards Team Villain, but I think it's because they were the more interesting and well developed characters in the earlier Disney movies. This definitely improved with the Little Mermaid and the Disney Renaissance, but there's just something so interesting about what makes these "bad guys" tick. Take Maleficent (not the Angelina Jolie storylines)...while you have to assume there's more to it, she literally loses it because she wasn't invited to a baby shower! Aaaaand she can turn into one of the coolest looking dragons ever!
It was also pretty fun when the girls were little...they'd go to BBB and get their princess makeovers or just show up in princess gear. Then if we were lucky, we'd find a villain. It didn't even matter which villain...because most of them seem to bristle at the mere mention of a princess. We went to 1900 PF dinner right before
MNSSHP one year and DD17 (who was dressed as Snow White) had some hysterical interactions with Anastasia, Drizella and Lady Tremaine. Cinderella was sweet and all, but just not nearly as fun and memorable.
On a side note, I think this may be why Mary Poppins, Peter Pan, and Alice in Wonderland are my favorite Disney movies. Yes, Peter Pan has Captain Hook and Alice has the Queen of Hearts, but there's so much to the storylines compared to a more straightforward hero/heroine vs. villain. The Cheshire Cat is my second favorite character overall and I remember being surprised when I saw him classified as a villain. I mean, I kind of get it, but it's not like he's feeding Alice a poison apple or anything like that.
